Siva, Knowles out for Stetson game

Guards Preston Knowles and Peyton Siva will both miss Wednesday night's game against Stetson and are questionable for Saturday night's tilt with Charlotte, Rick Pitino said Tuesday afternoon.

Knowles re-aggrevated a thumb injury and sat out most of the second half of U of L's 76-71 loss to UNLV on Saturday. Siva sprained his wrist when he tried to block a shot in the same game, and Pitino says his injury is more severe that Knowles'.

With Knowles out, Reggie Delk will re-join the starting lineup tomorrow night, joining Edgar Sosa, Jerry Smith, Samardo Samuels and Rakeem Buckles, who notched a double-double against the Runnin' Rebels and will start over sophomore Jared Swopshire.

With Siva and Knowles sidelined, Pitino said that Smith will serve as the backup point guard and that freshman Mike Marra will see an increase in playing time.

Wonder why the lineup can't be....

1-Sosa
2-Delk
3-Swopshire
4-Buckles
5-Samuels

Swop just seems like a much better 3 than a 4. And let’s face it, it’s December; so Jerry isn’t a starter yet.

If healthy, Jerry will start

Pitino always tries to show respect to his seniors, especially when they’re a co-captain.

Uurrggg

Ya, let’s increase Jerry’s role on the team. He’s totally earned that so far this year. Please please please PK and Siva, heal quickly.

Jerry Smith is a terrific young man,

but never in his wildest dream will he be a point guard. He handles the ball like he has broom rakes for hands. I just want him to catch it and shoot it and watch it go in. And harass people. He does that really well.

Swopshire has played his way to the bench, no doubt about that. But having him contribute something significant (rebounding?) is the key to our Big East future. Because apparently our starting center has little or no interest in rebounding the ball.

Andre McGee never handled the ball as poorly as Jerry.

And in his senior year, Andre McGee was the best point guard defender — in terms of pressuring the ball handler — I’ve seen in years.

Exactly

Andre started a lot of those youtube clips of breakaway dunks the last couple years with his deflections and steals; his contributions on D are vastly underrated. His dunk during throwback day was a lot of fun, too.

Better for them to miss time now and be completely health

than to rush them and further aggravate their injuries. We’ll be fine, we’ve got crazy depth

Crap

I mean hopefully we won’t need them, but crap.

Starting lineup

Sosa, Jerry, Delk, Rock, Samardo

Bring Peyton and PK in off the bench for a spark like Pitino did with Andre and PK last year. Delk needs to be playing atleast 20-30 minutes a game. I <3 Rock
