The Battle for seventh is ON

Someone really needs to create a bad ass Louisville/Syracuse highlight(?) video in prep for the biggest game in Big East history.

Devowill_medium

This is the week. This is our time. This is our moment.

Yes, I had to look up the schedule to see who we were playing this weekend.

Big East Game of the Week!

I’m guessing that title means “this is the game the Big East Network is picking up because no other broadcaster would touch it”, because there are only two all season that don’t involve Syracuse or Louisville.

I'm sorry, but I can't help being depressed

when I think about this game and how far we’ve fallen/dissolved/collapsed, you name it. It seems ages ago that we had meaningful, exciting home games that seemed to energize the entire city. All that’s gone, and I defy anyone to find an example of a more quick or complete destruction of a top-ten program by one failing, flailing coach. It all defies description.

AT LEAST THE WKU AD HAD THE GONADS TO FIRE THEIR CLOWN BEFORE THE SEASON WAS OVER. OUR AD HAS EXTREMELY SMALL GONADS.

Now their best defender is also out. If we lose this game…I don’t know what to say.

Btw...

Someone at ITV posted Krag’s contract. It’s amazing how he got such a great deal for the experience he had.

That'd be me

I’ll ask the same question here:

Any lawyer-types feel that clause 4 allows for a smaller buyout?

Not a lawyer, but...

I have 8 in my immediate family. All the ones that I mentioned it to said there is no way that clause 4 would allow for a smaller buyout. SK can hold UofL for the full amount, but Louisville can attempt to renegotiate his buyout. Basically offer him a smaller amount as a lump sum, which I doubt they would do with the current value of the dollar. No sense in kicking your stocks while they are down.

Either rate, I’ve read that the athletic fund is quite healthy, but it will be a struggle to fork out SK’s buyouts on top of a premier coach’s salary. (And before you ask, Pitino’s $3.3M loyalty bonus has nothing to do with this, football and basketball have separate budgets. However, loans from program to program have been make in the past; it’d just take Ramsey and the rest of the board’s approval.)

Man (said with a sigh)

WTF was TJ thinking? What an emotional f*cktard.

Not only did he make what is arguably the worst hire in the history of D1 football, he participated in giving him an obscene contract. Disappointing to think he didn’t consider the consequences.

I know that Jurich basically transformed athletics and the campus since he’s been here, but damn, when it’s all said and done he may have sh*t the bed to the tune of $4M+. Would any other athletic director even be retained after such a huge gaff?

I would bet the U of L administration doesn’t allow him to play as large a role in setting / negotiating any more salaries, and that would not be a bad thing considering.

I hope he hits a homerun with the next guy. If not, the love affair will definitely be over (or at least my mancrush).

Damn I miss 2006.

Soapbox, dismount.

You gotta remember...

$4M isn’t a whole lot of money when it comes to UofL football. I’d wager that profits could be (and hopefully will be) increased by more than $4M with a big name coach that fills the stands, gets us back on ESPN primetime, and takes us to any bowl game.

Jurich took us to that mountaintop with Petrino in the first place. He took a chance with an up-and-comer and got burnt. I still trust TJ to pull us out of this slump and get us back to the bigtime. (As you can see, my mancrush is still in full effect)
