"It's not the South, it's not Chicago, and you don't think of it as you think of New York or L.A. It has some Southern romanticism to it, but also a Northern progressivism, this weird urban island in the middle of the state of Kentucky...For us, Louisville and the surrounding areas are the center of massive creativity and massive weirdness." - Jim James, My Morning Jacket
I will say one thing about this football team
I like the uniforms this year (with the exception of the black ones that said “the ville”)
OK-- if Will doesn't get overwhelmed, we lose by 2 TD's
if Will gets covered and smothered,
then get get waffle -grilled by at least 3 TD’s…
We somehow manage to keep games
against WVU close. I think we do better than most expect, but still lose by a comfortable margin. Is it almost over? Please say it’s almost over.
You look at that picture and think this could be like Rudy,Rocky, or better yet, "Unnecessary Roughness"
where the underdog Stein and his misfits finally gets the chance and is going to win the big game. Instead, this season is more like “Waterworld” or “Gigli” where everything just sucks.

Gee Golly Geepers, Mr. Ruferthord!
I think it’s just grand that you made me the gameday picture. Just grand!
Not trying to be "that guy" or anything...
…but Will’s only played against UC’s 3rd & 4th string defense, and Arkansas State; why we don’t have Burke or Froman (although not at 100%) starting this game is beyond me.
If Will throws more than 20 times today, we lose, which means a lot of running (which I’m not sure we can run effectively).
I’m depressed, drink #1 is on it’s way and it’s not even noon.

By the way...
…I’m the guy in front of you at the game who’s always standing up yelling.
Sorry about the noise.
wow
9 minutes into the game and WVU hasn’t scored yet?
Defense has been surprisingly solid thus far
Devine might not run for any yards, but Brown can do what he wants
He isn’t very accurate though, a mistake or seven and we have a chance
I'm down and want Kragthorpe gone and all
But how amazing would it be to beat these assholes in Morgantown with this team?

I think I saw Chaz Thompson at the Bazo's near campus the other day.
He ordered a burrito.
I meant: we played really well in the 1st qtr.
My thoughts are kinda rattled at this point, cause we’re not down 14
Looking good so far...
Need to move the ball though. We are obviously limited on offense but its going to take more than 21 to win this…D looks good. We need to keep stacking the box and blitzing. No more sending 3 linemen on 3rd and 8.

Of all the things i expected from this game
A defensive struggle was not one of them
Looks like 31 just hit him in the hands
Hopefully their unimpressive looking offense so far gives us the ball back
The one stat we lead the nation:
Being able to make something bad out of something good at least three times per game.
whatever point that man was making, he did say "Steve Kragthrope has lost a lot of football."
Might be the truest thing ever said
There's number two
I’m banking on number three being a turnover on some crucial possession in the fourth quarter.
Ok, boys lets pack it up and head home
Learn from George Costanza, end on a high note.

I love how you can clearly hear the "bullshit" chants.
That makes twice this game.
The FCC is not pleased.
If you're going to do that
Let the clock run down a little more to around three secs before you call the timeout.
No shit.
This guy is seriously clueless. You’ve got 7 seconds, that’s plenty time to toss up a hail mary to the endzone from the shotgun and then line up for the FG.
Ok...
So even if you think you don’t have time for a shot, you wait a few seconds to call the timeout so as to prevent the opportunity for a kickoff return.
If he takes the TO with 3 seconds left instead of 7, we don’t even have to do that kickoff at the end of the half. So it was stupid either way.
Shades of art carmody?
Haha, sometimes i say crazy things
so, down one at half
looking somewhat competitive…
does this mean we have a koach?
Why do I get the feeling Lucy is going to the placeholder to start the 2nd half?
Forget the coaching situation, I really want to beat these guys.
From watching...
…about 5 minutes of the first half and reviewing the game thread, I def. don’t have that “wow we may win!” vibe. But apparently we actually looked good in the first half?
Anyway, from my non-getting-sucked-into-the-game seat, Rational CardsFan922 has seen this movie before and is confident WVU will get 14 in the 3rd quarter and 10 in the 4th, and we may get another FG or late-second TD to make it look somewhat respectable.
But the Irrational CardsFan922 says, we’ve got a chance! Stewart sucks! Ashley is awesome! And can you feel the Steinmentum?!?1
I think this is exactly how K drew up the 2nd half plan

I'll bet what Bill Stewart said at halftime was...
“They’re Louisville, they don’t show up for the second half. Let’s go boys.”
and still have no problem scoring
We on the other hand would be lucky to get a FG out of that
DocCardsFan

no he means we turn it over
WVU scores, and it’s right where we’d thought it’d be

I meant we would turn it over and they would score
Putting the game where we thought it would be, which is out of reach
I don't know, Pat White's little brother is waiting in wings for when jarrett brown is gone
And he’s supposed to be good
Yeah, I do think they're as good as they're ever going to be with Stewart.
That was a bad hire all along. Winning that Sugar Bowl might have been the worst thing that could have happened to them.

It really will be fun to watch the "A Team" run the ball next year.
Vic Anderson and Darrian Ashley will be a “dy-no-mite” combination.
A christmas commercial and it's Nov. 7
Rutherford, your thoughts?
Radcliffe seems sure handed,
but it seems like he has no chance at breaking a big return. Hes a homeless man’s version of Wes Welker.
Game isn't on here in OR
What’s the vibe of the game? Is it as competitive as Gamecast suggests?

I’m saying Bama because the SEC wants them to win and play florida. Lane Kiffin agrees
I feel bad for our defense
They’re playing well but Krag won’t allow the offense to move the ball.
You know...
…I’m going to be really impressed with the 2nd half adjustments NOT being made next year by Kragthorpe.
Ashley up the middle is no better than Powell up the middle, or Anderson up the middle if the defense expects it.
This is just gross
We have the talent to win this game but we have an anvil named krag weighing us down

There was a facemask at the end of the play too.
Not like it matters… just sayin. We like personal fouls.
2 things really killed us in this game
the fucking red zone penalties, and not having a qb to throw up top on WVU like USF did last week. Stein wasn’t very good today
Kragthorpe's an idiot...
You don’t throw over people, you throw between people. WTF???
OMG...
You call a timeout there? Right after you save one on the review? WTF?!
The WVU fans screaming “ASSHOLE! ASSHOLE!” pretty much sum it up Steve.
Wait, why was that third and one?
I mean, they didn’t get it, but shouldn’t that be third and like 10?
my 2 cents...
Anderson and Ashley should have been splitting carries since game 1. Bowell is not that good. Krags playing calling is terrible at best in the red zone. He doesn’t utilize the players that he has to run an offense.
If all Krag can do is try to call plays, play madden 10.
I bet I could beat him in coaches mode.

Does anybody really believe we've been better at QB since Burke got benched?
Cause I don’t. Bring Burke back.
Not at all
That game was one of the worst quarterbacked games on both sides I have seen in a while. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game the QBs combined for under 200 yards and neither had 100. Neither one of them was even 50% I think
i got a little excited, but i just has a feeling it was not to be ....again
Although Will Stein did great and so did Philpott
I agree with your disagreement.
Of course, it’s hard to get a lot of passing yards when Koach calls a HB dive from the I every first and second down, and over half of the third downs.

You can't blame stein for any of this
he played as well as he could have. You blame the coach who put him in over the three other scholarship quarterbacks.
I hate you steve kragthorpe. I hate you so much
I don't blame Stein, I just don't think he played well today
I think if we had a better QB, or he played better, we could have won that game. Just my thoughts.
good game
The Cards looked very inspired today and there was a very real fear the Cards might pull the upset. Stein had pretty good composure considering how much the stadium was rocking.
The only thing that confused me…. why didn’t Krag up the tempo a little when UL had the ball on the 50 with a little over a minute and a half to go? Also, why did he call a timeout right after the official review?
If he was my coach… I’d want to ditch him too.
Anyhoo, keep your heads up card fans… just about a month before the Krag gets canned.
Why krags called the timeout
See: previous 25 games
by UL is my hot hot sex on Nov 7, 2009 4:21 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
At least you don't have to worry about Michigan hiring another coach away from you all
B/c Bill Stewart isn’t a whole lot better than Krag
Hate to beat a dead horse but...
If we still had Anthony Allen, those red zone running plays would probably look a lot smarter.

referees?
i’m usually the last to rip on an official but i cannot understand some of the calls against Louisville today…all which went against us and each conserversional call was an important play in the game. first off… the phantom pass interference where wvus receiver was double covered, had no play on the ball, and we didnt even touch him. we held out ground but that penalty gave them a field goal. second, a run up the middle gave us first and goal at the 3 but the worst personal foul call ive ever see seen pushes us back and we settle for 3. then finally doug beaumont scores in the end zone for the first time ever. my buddy and i jump out of our seat. estatic for dougie and for the ground we’ve just made up when a VERY VERY late flag is thrown for holding. OK i saw the replay, if any of the 3 was a penalty it was that call but it was late so late, it was like the ref said to himself he wouldnt call it unless stein threw a completion. i’m sick to my stomach with this officiating.
i wont bash krag, he had the guys espically the defense ready to go. big congrats to the defense holding the run and mostly the pass in check the whole game. thank you darius ashley, please dont transfer. and for stein…you get what you expect out of him. hes not great but he never turned it over and threw it away instead of throwing INTs several times. he is the smartest QB we have,he just doesnt have the tools
by Cambroni Cardinals on Nov 7, 2009 6:47 PM EST reply actions
You have it backwards, we held the pass and they ran on us the whole second half
They had 72 passing yards and like 170 rushing yards. Devine was the only one held in check besides the big run and his injury. Even he had like 60 or so. I agree with what you say mostly
Krag runs the offense. The offensive play calling (not execution) was awful. Krag is fucking idiot who it completely overmatched
If there is one thing I won’t stand for, it’s people protecting Krag. The kids on the team are playing hard. Krag is a lame duck of a pitiful son of a bitch who realizes the end it near.
Overall it was our best effort of the year
The defense played well. Thankfully WVU coaching / play calling sucks as bad as ours. Ashley showed great potential. The unbelievable part is that we lost on one of our best efforts. 3 & 9 is on the way.
