Coach Cal wants more UK games in Louisville-- WTF

Why is this guy so struck on having more UK games in Louisville.  Does anyone else find this odd.  He wants to build a fan base in Louisville so he can recruit from Louisville?  I just find this really strange.  I think he's either trying to get under Pitino's skin (who hardly recruits from Louisville anyway) or just really misses the city life of Memphis, knowing that Louisville is 100 X better than Lexington.   If it is just to annoy Pitino and Louisville fans, I guess it's working, but probably not in the way expected.  It's not like I'm jealous or mad, more or less just confused to why they'd rather play games an hour and a half away than at home.  What's up with that?

Hell, let them give away revenue

More money for the Hall and this community if they do.

Cal is an idiot. He has no idea where he is or what he’s walked into. As soon as he fails, the fan backlash will be amusing.

Blue Seats

I was in the car last night with my roomate (UK fan) and he was listening to the pregame with Coach Cal. Cal specifically said that he wanted to make feedom hall more of a UK home by making the seats blue instead of red and putting blue on the floor instead. I absolutely want to punch him. Can he do that?

It really just doesn't make sense

to me. Why isn’t he satisfied with Rupp? I guess since we’re moving out of Freedom Hall, he thinks it’s up for grabs. I can’t really blame him all that much. Lexington sucks. I would probably want to play more games/spend more time in Louisville too.

No Problem

Well, he can play the Louisville game there every year if he wishes.
Don’t get you panties in a wad. He isn’t going to play anyone who can play down there. Sure, the Cats can put on a dunk show against the little guys. Let’s see if he would be willing to play North Carolina there instead of Lexington.

I have be correctly accused of having a 'football fetish'. You know, someone who doesn't think football is the warm up sport to basketball season.

don't underestimate this move or that coach

One of the toughest things about being a Cardinal fan is swimming in the sea of blue that is the rest of the state. As it is, Louisville already has more UK fans than anywhere outside of Lexington-Fayette (in pure numbers, of course, not per capita). This move is something of a shot across our bow, and if he wasn’t trying to paint Denny Crum Court blue I would invite it. Calipari is ramping up the rivalry and he knows that one way to do it is to sharpen the division that already exists in this city. He wants to make this the nastiest and loudest rivalry in the country, make our annual matchup a media bonanza, and rake in the cash that comes with increased TV coverage. The guy knows what Billy Clyde never figured out, and what Tubby struggled with throughout his tenure: the coach at UK is a CEO first and foremost. Profits are paramount, and they’ll take it in cash, check, or glory. They are out to reclaim their spot as the Yankees of college basketball; being hated for it is gravy.

BTW, I doubt we can’t stop this from happening. Unfortunately, Freedom Hall is state property and UofL has no say. I’d personally like to see a response from UofL, but I have no idea what that could be. I think this comes down to summer camp tactics: The third-year campers have just raided the second-years’ cabin, how do we second-years respond? maybe Jurich and Pitino can pile into a van and shoot water balloons filled with red paint at Rupp Arena…

Just had a very nice

Saturday with UK beating UNC and then Alabama beating UF…..thought I’d check out the Cards site.

Having lived in Louisville all my adult life and having graduated from UofL……yes, there are UK fans with UofL degrees…….gotta tell you folks that UK’s history at Freedom Hall goes back at least as far as UofL’s does.

Yes, it’s your home court but when I went to UofL in the mid to late 70’s, you could go to ANY game with your student ID and walk right in. I remember the guy who played a LOT of handball with Bill Olsen being the student gate keeper.

The point is that UK comes to Freedom Hall EVERY year because of tradtion….having at least as many UK fans in Jefferson County as UofL does. You folks may resent it but the reality is ANY retailer in Jefferson County who sells UK and UofL items will tell you that UK sells at least as much as UofL does.

So UK has a lot of fans in Jefferson County…..doesn’t it make sense that UK would play games here. Freedom Hall isn’t UofL’s, it belongs to the state. UofL is welcome to go to Rupp but do you actually think UofL would draw 15,000 people playing UNC Ashville?

UK probably benefits from playing in Louisville

But that doesn’t mean we have to like it, especially when your players, mascot and 4 year olds stomp, piss and shit on our Cardinal logo.

After that Cat whizz?

Okay… like you I was a student at Louisville, but in the early to mid-70’s. I remember walking into Freedom Hall. showing the ID and getting a great seat too. Though I loathed them, I even went to some Kentucky games there… IU, Notre Dame. Remember Dwight “the blur” Anderson?

But after that no class Cat mascot faux whizzing on the Cardinal logo, I’m 100% for banning this “tradition” and telling Calipari he can take his low class team and mascot and jam ‘em ALL where the sun doesn’t shine.

Thank you.
