Observations from the Thomas & Mack Center
What made me laugh: Chanting overrated one mintue and storming the court as proud victors of war the next.
What inspired me: Rock Buckles in the paint and on the glass
What made me angry: 2 random UK fans in blue—one wearing a huge blue overstuffed cowboy hat no less—storming the court alongside the Rebel fans
What makes me nervous about the future: Samardo Samuels disappearing in big spots
What makes me excited about this year: The emergence of Sosa’s all around game on offense
What makes me nervous about this year: Senior Co-Captain Jerry Smith
Why none of this matters: It’s November, our coach is Rick Pitino and Preston was hurt. Can we request a do-over come March?

good points all...and add my continued and now very real concern about how we bound with the Big East teams--or UK
For U of L , Rock was the star of this war
Poor
Cardinal sportswear dog, it was a good run….of two lol

yea sorry to Ashley and Chris...
but Sadie has got to go…
bring back ADMM for the UK game…
til then find some Dejuan Wheat or BeauZach Smith….
Actually if you find a BeauZach Smith I might stop visiting this site…LOL
Alvin Sims will do…
Brian Kiser might get Mike Marra rolling…. ITS A THOUGHT!
hell we might need a vintage shot of Denny Crum with a rolled up program!
chillin villian
typical
november game, just part of being a Louisville fan. Inside game needs a kick in the ass!

Two things are certain today
1. We will have a new football coach
2. Tennessee will always beat Kentucky in football
random thoughts
1) For being a sharp shooter, Mike Marra doesn’t make many shots; perhaps Pitino put too much pressure on him or overhyped him?
2) Our best lineup today was definitely Sosa, Smith (maybe would have been a healthy Preston), Delk, Rock, Samuels
3) We don’t get much rebounding or defense with SS, but he’s the inside presence we need on offense if we’re going to shoot 25-30 threes a game
4) Rock was really strong today, I hope this is the start of something great
5) I knew as soon as we tied the game at 20-20 and then got down by 10 before halftime that we were going to lose this game, I’m just happy we made a comeback and the final score was respectable
6) UNLV’s fans storming the court was embarassing. The spread was what, 3pts? For a team that blew a 20 pt lead, I wouldn’t over-the-top celebrate
7) For as young as we are (generally), why were we in Vegas since Wed?
8) We’ll be fine, but its frustrating again that we lose our biggest non-conf game again (save UK)
9) Whoever said it first, I agree: Pitino’s season typically plays out like this -
Nov/Dec – we’re worried because the team loses games they shouldn’t and we haven’t gelled yet
Jan/Feb – we start to click and go on monster winning streaks, all is good
Mar – something breaks down, and we fall short of expectations (04-05 being the exception)
10) non-UL related : why is Duke always one of the best teams in the country in Nov/Dec/Jan, then relegates to complete mediocrity in Feb/Mar?
Samardo's defense and rebounding
Where are they? Didn’t see them at all today. He could at least raise his arms above his head when a guard gets deep into the lane for another floater/layup. He might even block something by accident.
I’d like to see more of Jennings and Goode until Samardo decides to defend.
Jerry’s shot will come around. Buckles will be good. And a tough road game like this will help in the long run. Still worried about the interior D.

Samardo is such a disappointment thus far
All the hype he had coming out of high school. He hasn’t lived up to a 3rd of the potential he was touted as having. It’s almost as if grinding it out in possibly the toughest league ever last year has sent him backwards, not forward.
Jennings may have a ways to go in terms of conditioning and development, but the one thing he brings to the court that Samuels just doesn’t have is passion and fire. He plays with heart and determination. Samardo looks like he’s just going along for the ride most of the time. Shame too. We got spoiled on having a big, long center like Padgett for a few years. We need that kind of post game again, especially with our do-or-die streaky shooters.

I wish Jennings would excel. he could pass Samardo.

was anyone REALLY upset about this loss?
especially after the big news earlier yesterday?
this was an early season out-of-conference road game that meant nothing in the overall picture of the season. we may take a little hit in the polls (which also don’t mean anything this early) but i think a lot was gained out of this win. and at least look at it this way- should we get down by big margins again later this year at some road big east game there is precedent in the year for coming back and getting back in the game.
we have directv here, so i listened to the game. when they ran the game stats for both teams, it sounded to me like the only real difference was that unlv made shots and we didn’t. for anyone who saw the game, would that be something accurate to say?
I'm not at all surprisingly.
Although I wish we didn’t lose, we can all honestly say that none of us thought this team would go undefeated. We should gain alot of experience from this game. It was loud, well coached defensive team. The freshmen got lots of experience wish should help us down the road. I’m glad we got a challenge like this now, than coast through most of December thinking we are better than we are.

I see it as a bit of a blessing
we were able to battle back and also get a taste of defeat, which is great since this team will lose probably 6-8 games in Big East play
I don't even think pitino was upset.
Maybe it’s becausethe epectations are so much lower than last year, but this just didn’t sting much at all. Good learning experience and good way to fight back. Plenty of other top teams are losing early so I’m not worried at all in the long run.

just saw several of Rick's postgame comments filmed by UNLV folks
on the weekly UNLV sports show and he wasn’t upset at all—he focused entirely on the positives. Praised UNLV for playing very uptempo and physical on D and that is exactly why he scheduled them, to prepare for the Big East. He was glad that several players got big minutes in that type of atmosphere and was optimistic after seeing his young team fight back in the 2nd half.
