Does anyone know if the game is being broadcast anywhere other than Versus, which I conveniently do not subscribe to?

You'll probably have to find a stream

someone will post it in the thread. Do you have directv, or just didn’t want to watch Sports Soup?

I have

Insight. I haven’t gotten around to ordering any additional channels, but i definately want to get ESPNU seeing as the cards play four games on it this season.

Never heard or seen a crowd like this. Great atmosphere and their pressure on D is amazing so far. 1st half will be close but I trust Rick to adjust in 2nd half. Unlv goes 10 deep this yr btw.

My relationship with Pitino

I hate him in November and December because he makes me attend App State and Morgan State games, then has me turn around and watch us struggle against lesser talent.

I love him in January and Februaury because we put it all together and look unstoppable.

I apologize and make excuses for him in March because something falls apart.

When will the trend end?

It’s a long season, these guys shouldn’t be under any illusions. If we need to get better, it’s better to learn that now than in the Big East.

What is up with Portland? Are they actually good? I didn’t know there was a Portland University before the other day

by cardscott5 on Nov 28, 2009 5:00 PM EST reply actions

Why aren't we coming in with the same gameplan

that we have had all year. Rush teams on their offensive possesions while making the extra pass on ours? I know we don’t have a lot of experience on the floor, but Jerry Smith needs to hop the next flight home, go to his dorm room and look under his bed for the Jerry from 2 and 3 years ago. What is going on with him?

Amazingly we are out rebounding them

16-14 and 7-4 on the offensive glass.

However, UNLV has 10 assists. Not a good stat with our usual defensive presence.

Finally, our FT% is 44%, Shooting, 41%, From 3, 22%. Going to need to shoot better 2nd half.

by Remote Cardinal on Nov 28, 2009 5:11 PM EST reply actions

This half...

…is why Pitino scheduled this game. I’d rather have a half like that in November in Nevada than in Lexington in January.

Was a great game to watch there for awhile, fast pace and both teams playing hard.

Hope Preston is ok.

by DocCardsFan on Nov 28, 2009 5:12 PM EST up reply actions

My two cents

(a) Free throw shooting = achilles heal yet again
(b) No offensive continuity – - Samardo lost out there. In his defense, he starts each set at the top of the key, which does him no favors. We also miss him if and when he is open
© Too many easy pts given up defensively
(d) If Samardo misses another shot right at the rim, I am going to call Kimbo Slice to toughen him up

by Zakem2002 on Nov 28, 2009 5:20 PM EST reply actions

Samuels really needs to not be in there.

He always tries to switch on the screen, and that always leads to bad things.

by CARD_G6 on Nov 28, 2009 5:24 PM EST reply actions

I'll be honest with you...

We’re not looking good, but I really don’t think UK is much better. I’m more worried about Big East play.

by CARD_G6 on Nov 28, 2009 5:26 PM EST up reply actions

Poor shooting...

..and lack of rebounding.

It’s a long season and a young team, have to figure out an identity.

On balance, a great day for UofL sports.

Samuels needs to be benched, permanently

Let Jennings get in there and continue to develop. Samuels is going backwards.

by CARD_G6 on Nov 28, 2009 5:38 PM EST up reply actions

Dunno which one you watched, but...

I didn’t see any contact after the initial. He let him shoot after the contact. If you know you’re going to foul, finish the foul.

by Remote Cardinal on Nov 28, 2009 5:40 PM EST up reply actions

The defenciencies in defense are very similar to the WKU game last year.

No presence in the middle with our zone. Inability to get out on shooters in the zone. Going under the screens at the topof the zone. God our zone looks bad without T and E5.

I will promote no moral victories (trust me, I'm no Steve Kragthorpe).....

but im proud of the comeback…hostile crowd and tough UNLV team…this was their Super Bowl and we halfway stood up to the challenge without Preston in the 2nd half or any help from Jerry..get those two going and make Mardo a little more serviceable on both ends of the court and we got something special in the works

Also, invaluable experience for Marra, Siva, and Buckles. Gotta play with intensity & intelligence when you put on a uniform with Louisville across the front of it.

by bigdawgul57 on Nov 28, 2009 6:27 PM EST reply actions

BTW...WTF happened to Jerry Smith?

He has become like William “Loser” Gay was in football…good enough to start…not good enough to win it all.

And yes, I know Wlliam Gay is starting for the Steelers. What I also know is that he was instrumental (offsides on a missed field goal) in helping Rutger’s with the win that ruined our perfect season.

FILE -- This is an Oct. 18, 2008 file photo showing Connecticut corner back Jasper Howard (6) trying to get the crowd into the game during the fourth quarter of an NCAA college football game against Rutgers, in Piscataway, N.J. Jasper Howard had his little sisters' names tatooed on his chest.
