Open Thread: Louisville vs. Rutgers

The biggest thing on the line this morning? A perfect Card Chronicle prediction season. Granted, I've only picked against the favorite one time, but still...perfect season.

I've got the Scarlet Knights, 21-17.

Go seniors.

GO CARDS.

On press row-- just ate breakfast. 3 min before kickoff

8-10000 people at most in stands.

Just asked Fred Cowgill if he had EVER been to a college football game at 11a. He shook his head “Never. And I’ve been doing this 34 yrs…”

Dempsey down

Not a good start

by cardscott5 on Nov 27, 2009 11:10 AM EST via mobile reply actions

Improvement

Does anyone else notice that the only area of this team that doesn’t look improved is the offense? Seriously the D looks halfway respectable now, and the special teams is decent besides the occassional bad punt, but the offense just blows. Kragthorpe is garbage.

by rednblackfan4life on Nov 27, 2009 11:22 AM EST reply actions

Thought about driving up from ETown to go to the game today

Then I decided sleep and warmth is far more important than Kragthorpe (though I do feel bad for our seniors)

by SpeedStudent on Nov 27, 2009 11:22 AM EST reply actions

This may be a VERY long day--

Goettsche continues his yips

that fumble in 37 degree temp was kinda exciting

for a sec

by frankpos on Nov 27, 2009 11:23 AM EST via mobile reply actions

Hey! Rutger players actually run pass routes

past the first down marker on 3rd down….

by frankpos on Nov 27, 2009 11:27 AM EST via mobile reply actions

Just got home

how did rutgers score the first 7?

by Remote Cardinal on Nov 27, 2009 11:28 AM EST reply actions

So

We’re still not very good.

by Mike Rutherford on Nov 27, 2009 11:29 AM EST reply actions

I just feel so bad for the seniors

Long, Guy, anybody else who believed in Kragthorpe just has to be really mad today.
Sadness and anger. Dempsey goes out, our offense has nothing. Soft, marshmallow hits and a sense of resignation. One of the worst holidays I can remember.

by ChipConstant1 on Nov 27, 2009 11:30 AM EST reply actions

There's no way I could stomach another year of this

Every week I try to get myself up for the game and every week it’s the least exciting thing I’ve ever seen in my life.

by Mike Rutherford on Nov 27, 2009 11:31 AM EST reply actions

Agreed

How long do you think fans will give the next coach to build the program, even if his ffirst few season records are 5-7 or 6-6?

by SpeedStudent on Nov 27, 2009 11:33 AM EST up reply actions

I think that under ideal conditions

We go 6-6 next season, and 8+ wins the season after.

by Remote Cardinal on Nov 27, 2009 11:37 AM EST up reply actions

I think if we are competitive we give the new coach time...

The problem with Krag is that we aren’t competitive, we don’t play with much heart, and the gameplanning/in-game decision making is terrible.

by Luke Whitehead's Rap Career on Nov 27, 2009 11:37 AM EST up reply actions

There's enough talent to win here quickly

Maybe not win big, but a competent coach will have some success here next season and then take us back to the postseason in year 2.

by Mike Rutherford on Nov 27, 2009 11:38 AM EST up reply actions

I think there's enough talent to win

But I wonder with how badly dejected everyone is, how long it will take to infuse the players with some emotion.

by SpeedStudent on Nov 27, 2009 11:40 AM EST up reply actions

JLS took over a 1-10 team with similar to less talent

and went bowling in his first year. It’s all about competency at the top.

by dlpfis79 on Nov 27, 2009 12:46 PM EST up reply actions

D Cord Brent Guy has done an excellent job

This yr IMO

We’re trying to blitz to shake their frost QB like Syracuse did last wk

but so far , it’s had no effect

by frankpos on Nov 27, 2009 11:31 AM EST via mobile reply actions

Campa makes a play behind the line of scrimmage

And no one congratulates him. This is a game of emotion and we haven’t played with any for three years.

by Mike Rutherford on Nov 27, 2009 11:32 AM EST reply actions

Once again we leave the first qtr

Losing

it’s a kragthorpian given…

by frankpos on Nov 27, 2009 11:34 AM EST via mobile reply actions

Wildcat again

Anybody see anything inventive out of our vaunted offensive coordinator?

by ChipConstant1 on Nov 27, 2009 11:41 AM EST reply actions

Ok-- Cuse were favored by 3 today

Right now— I’m thinking 28-7

maybe

by frankpos on Nov 27, 2009 11:42 AM EST via mobile reply actions

Their O wall push is just plain driving us back

Rutgers plaing are hopping around on teir sideline

ZERO energy on ours

by frankpos on Nov 27, 2009 11:45 AM EST via mobile reply actions

Pathetic start

Did Krag quit before the game? No fire

by cardscott5 on Nov 27, 2009 11:45 AM EST via mobile reply actions

at game

I just lost a bet to my dad. After they had 1st down @ the 14 I said they’d score in 3 plays…dad said 4.

That’s what its come to for us. Betting on the inevidible.

by drhustle on Nov 27, 2009 11:46 AM EST via mobile reply actions

TD Guy

Good for Trent. Very deserving.

by rednblackfan4life on Nov 27, 2009 11:53 AM EST reply actions

The run hasn't been doing much of anything

I say with the way Froman is playing, we keep throwing it until Rutgers shows they can stop it

by SpeedStudent on Nov 27, 2009 11:54 AM EST up reply actions

Nice

2 really nice throws by Froman in that drive. Hope?

by CardsFanTX on Nov 27, 2009 11:54 AM EST reply actions

feed the studs

Guy may be small in stature for a stud, but he’s got the heart of one

by SullyCard on Nov 27, 2009 11:54 AM EST reply actions

How much better do you guys feel now that our kicker has a shoe and makes PATs?

I know for me, with as crappy as we’ve been on offence, missing PATs and gimme FGs was enough to drive me over the edge.

by Remote Cardinal on Nov 27, 2009 11:55 AM EST reply actions

I have never been comfortable giving away points

Getting a semblance of a kicking game is an absolute necessity-and absolutely inexcusable to not have one.

by ChipConstant1 on Nov 27, 2009 11:59 AM EST up reply actions

What did Froman's eyeblack say?

Taking a page from Tebow or have I missed that all season long?

by Remote Cardinal on Nov 27, 2009 11:57 AM EST reply actions

Rewound the DVR, both eyes have “JTW” under them.

Anyone know what that would mean to him?

by Remote Cardinal on Nov 27, 2009 12:06 PM EST up reply actions

Geez

Looks like the D doesn’t really care. Not sure I blame them, but this is embarrassing.

by CardsFanTX on Nov 27, 2009 12:00 PM EST reply actions

Raglin got owned

if it’s a slow day, they might put that on SC.

by Remote Cardinal on Nov 27, 2009 12:01 PM EST reply actions

raglin is my least favorite player ever

He is the biggest liability on our d. He has the worst ball skills of any db I’ve ever seen. Everytime I see him misplay a deep ball or let a reciever catch a post right in front of him I want to grab him by the facemask and drag him off the field. I will be as glad that he is gone as krag.

by drhustle on Nov 27, 2009 12:09 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Sheesh...

Their QB has all day in the pocket— blitzes having no effect
Their running backs breaking arb tackles
Hey— their was Mario’s stiff arm. Just not one if ourplayers

by frankpos on Nov 27, 2009 12:02 PM EST via mobile reply actions

D has officially left the building with Dempsey out

energy and confidence are paramount on defense-we have none

by ChipConstant1 on Nov 27, 2009 12:02 PM EST reply actions

They only had

130 total yards against ’Cuse??? Holy crap. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

How the heck did that team lose to Syracuse?

Third times the charm

Three OCs, three DCs, three QBs this season.

I'm pretty sure

That the new coach is going to have a LOT of cleaning house to do. The vast majority of these players have absolutely no desire or passion to play, and most of the ones that do are playing their last game today.

So I missed a lot of the first half, just checked GameCast

and see that we are terrible, typical Krag game it looks like from stats and score. We are a first half team too, any way we hold them to less than 55 points?

What’s the crowd look like there?

As far as worst Krag games (from coaching alone, not just losses by surprise ie. Syracuse), where does this rank?

I figured I’d knock out a lot of questions in one post…

by Luke Whitehead's Rap Career on Nov 27, 2009 12:45 PM EST reply actions

I think RU will stop trying to run it up when they hit 40s

doesn’t meant it won’t get to 55. Crowd is Halloween-esque. There have actually been a couple decent play calls on offense but sans that, typical Krag game. End of 2nd Qtr game management was atrocious.

Maddeningly poor offense.

On a somewhat related note, I see Cincy as the next Louisville. Brian Kelly’s going to book it to South Bend, they’re going to hire some up-and-coming mid-major, and boom, they’re 4-8 again.

Krag has too many NFL formations.

I guess he doesn’t understand that those formations work in the NFL because they have something called NFL-caliber talent. You make up for that in college with more creative playcalling or execution, both of which you suck at. Consider this memo delivered.

by CARD_G6 on Nov 27, 2009 2:17 PM EST reply actions

Look at it this way

Since Krag has been here, we’ve gone 6-6, 5-7, and now 4-8. So much for signs of progress.

Have you heard anything about the charlie strong rumor. Do you think it has any legs

Dr, I've heard that...and surprisingly Harbaugh

my sources—and most other truly reliable sources on ITV- have gone cold dark silent
since the Gruden think came out nationally by Lombardi

The cone of silence is the most complete i have ever seen (err, not heard?)

I don’t think TJ has even told his wife—and is feeding her mis-information too

It's time

For someone to make a Kragthorpe Era remembrance video.

Sara McClachlan’s “I will Remember You” must be playing in the background.

That video would contain nothing of his tenure here… only him walking out of the PJCS offices with a box of stuff, a half-dead fern, and a total lack of emotion…. put that on repeat so that it lasts the length of Ms. McClachlan’s song…

I wish his tenure here would have only lasted 3 something minutes…

Basically said to Steve “You’re calling a timeout? OK, screw you. Let’s get this done right now.”

Hate to say it

But it was a douche move by Steve in the first place. He deserved it.
