Open Thread: Louisville at South Florida

Louisville Cardinals at South Florida Bulls, Nov 21, 2009 12:00 PM EST

No time for a game day post, but I think we lose, 24-10. Here's hoping this is the one negative streak we break during the Krag era.

Getting_lucky_cardinal_medium

Were winning these two, heading to Toronto, and Krags is staying…

Yay!!!

by jrscheper on Nov 21, 2009 11:18 AM EST via mobile reply actions

I'll call it like this

Krag finally realized he has Chichester and Guy, starts running a heavy passing offense, which works for most of the first half. We get a slight lead. Then USF realizes that we’re running the same play on every drive. Krag fails to switch it up, like usual. Interceptions galore… Louisville gets shut down in the second half. USF wins by 10.

Lets hope I’m wrong! GO CARDS!

ITV says..

…our starter today? Justin Burke.

Who saw that coming?

by CardsFan922 on Nov 21, 2009 12:00 PM EST reply actions

Not I

If it’s not Froman, I would have to go with Stein. At least he can throw the spiral and hit open receivers

by SpeedStudent on Nov 21, 2009 12:02 PM EST up reply actions

Another defensive battle...

Cards offense still sucks. Bulls commit three turnovers, Cards lose it 4 times (1 fumble, 3 INT). Krag makes his standard adjustments at halftime (takes bad and makes it worse). Bulls end up winning another ugly game: 17-10.

by JustCards on Nov 21, 2009 12:01 PM EST reply actions

Burke?

Is this Kragthorpe trying to confuse USF and hope they aren’t prepared?

And I dunno, I think the Cardinal getting some love has to be a good omen.

by CardinalDude on Nov 21, 2009 12:02 PM EST reply actions

Yup, Burke starting...

…so says the Big East Network guys.

by CardsFan922 on Nov 21, 2009 12:02 PM EST reply actions

Froman?

Was this a deception attempt by Krags?

The defensive script reads like this:

15 yard cushion, give the easy outside pass or run, repeat until touchdown

What is the record...

For most noon or earlier kickoffs in a season? I’m pretty sure we may be setting it this year.

that we’ve thrown more to Chichester today than the rest of the season’s games combined.

by cbcard on Nov 21, 2009 1:12 PM EST up reply actions

Indeed.

Here’s what I imagine happened.

TJ: “Steve, I think I’m going to have to let you go after this USF game. It’s not looking good, and the boosters are not happy.”
SK: “Oh shit. I think I’m going to give this coaching thing a try this week. I’d really like to keep making money.”

by CARD_G6 on Nov 21, 2009 1:12 PM EST up reply actions

So they couldn't see that blatant shove on a touchdown catch

But saw two illegal blocks on the ensuing kick?

I’ll take it.

by Mike Rutherford on Nov 21, 2009 1:15 PM EST reply actions

these announcers suck too

Doing a great job the last couple of weeks getting the ball to our playmakers? So why only 2 TDs? And we got the ball to Guy last week mostly on kick returns

it seems that we always play a solid 15 yds off the receiver, with or without a lead – - so determined not to give up the long ball that we allow those offenses with patience to methodically drive down the field if willing to accept the underneath stuff

I agree, but

I don’t understand why we haven’t been throwing it to Chichester every other down the past two seasons. The guy is either the tallest or second tallest playing in FBS and has a nice vertical, so he can outjump any DB.

by SpeedStudent on Nov 21, 2009 2:37 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, maybe it would be nice if he did it every game.

Games like this and UK make me even more upset, because now it feels like he’s not actually completely inept, he’s just lazy. Game after game after game is awful and then a decent game. Why not every week? What’s the aversion to good playcalling in weeks 4-10?

by CARD_G6 on Nov 21, 2009 2:37 PM EST up reply actions
