One possibility gone...
No Chucky in Cardinal Red next year for sure... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4659441
Gruden signs a multiyear deal with MNF, so sorry for any college or pro team thinking he would have been their next coach. Based on rumors, the next few "candidates" are Tuberville, Fulmer, and more. So who do you think will get the job as Louisville's head football coach and why they are a possibility? Let the hopeful posts begin....

Mike Leach
is the rumor going on today, but wikipedia says he signed a 5 year extension with Texas Tech in 2008 for $12.7 million. We’d have to offer him better and get him out of that contract…. I doubt it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Leach_(coach)

I heard the same rumor
I have heard from around the UofL athletics office that Mike Leach is the next UofL coach, at least top of our list.
there's no way
He’s got it made at Tech

Not sure how "made" he's got it.
He reluctantly signed a contract extension last season and speculation was high that he was leaving/didn’t really want to be there. Plus, a good year there is finishing third in the conference behind OU and Texas, maybe even fourth behind OSU. No matter what he does, Tech is always going to be third or fourth fiddle in that conference no matter what he does. He could come here and absolutely dominate the conference. The path to a BCS bowl (which he’s never been to) is much easier here than at Tech. I don’t know that it’s as far-fetched as some people would have you believe.

What do you think the chances are of us
not going with a big name, but some up and coming assistant or offensive coordinator. I’d like to see that.

I really don't want Fulmer
I’d like to make a run at Florida’s Def. Coordinator, Charlie Strong. Or if Georgia is dumb enough to get rid of Mark Richt, that would be awesome. Or Tuberville would be acceptable.
Pretty much anyone with recruiting connections to the south east b/c that’s where we’ll have to recruit to be competitive again.
How many National Championships has Rich Brooks won?
I can understand people seeing the slide at the end of his tenure at UT and being apprehensive, but the guy deserves credit for putting them back on the map. The guy is a proven winner. Just saying…
His name is the first that comes to mind everytime I hear about an opening in college football.
My only problem with that is, I feel like he’s been at Florida forever and should have gotten a head coaching job by now. I could be way off base about this, but the fact that he’s still there and hasn’t gotten any offers (that I know of) is a little off-putting to me.

What's worse is that he's interviewed several times.
Never gotten the job. I’m not too high on him either.
It's my understanding he played the race card
in an media interview, was asked if he felt race had something to do with him not getting a head coaching job.
May very well be true, but it’s not something you broadcast to the world when being considered for a high dollar position.
A future employer would have to consider how things might play out if Strong were to be terminated. Could become a PR nightmare.

Some schools are afraid of him
Which is absolutely ridiculous. Look at the number of black head coaches in D-1 football, something is up, and I’d probably say something too.
Well
He is Meyer’s right hand man, so I think he has the skills/knowledge. If I’m not mistaken Florida’s defense is ranked in the top 5 of the country. Not to mention he has to have a good recruiting base to work with.

no fulmer
or tubberville. they are old news.. auburn hired an awful coach in gene chizik and look what he has done with that same team. I’ll take leach, charlie strong, or auburns offensive coordinator.
