Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Brett McMurphy:

A report that Louisville coach Steve Kragthorpe has been informed he will not return next season is "absolutely not true," Louisville senior associate athletic director Kenny Klein told FanHouse.

...

Klein said the report, which indicated an announcement would be made no later than next Monday, is "completely wrong information."

"Tom Jurich and Coach Kragthorpe didn't even speak on Monday in person or by phone," Klein said.

thank you

I was waiting for Kenny to make a statement. I’ll only get excited when he says something or I see Jurich on TV

Doesn't he have to say that?

I mean if they truly did say that he’s either resigning after Saturday or staying on as a lame duck… they wouldn’t let us know now anyway

I agree.

If they didn’t let anyone know when they originally had the meeting, why would they say any different now?

Talk about raining on a parade

Here we go letting facts ruin a day filled with positive prospect. (Reality has a way of worming its way into the middle of things I suppose.)

He has to say that

Kragthorpe is not remaining as coach.

ADTJ is in Birmingham today, as confirmed by Klein at the basketball luncheon. Draw your own conclusions.

Birmingham, AL?

Does he need a new trucker hat?
Perhaps he was signing the Cards up for a fake tournament?

he does HAVE to say that

they have to stop rumors one way or another to keep the focus on the football team and not themselves. My problem is…let’s say Klein is telling the truth. Then who..seriously…started all this Monday meeting, press conference in a week bullcrap. really guys, if that is made out of thin air why would someone just make it up out of no where and spread it. Why do you do those things??? if i hear the word “source” again I’ll snap. your “source” is your imagination that thought this up to cure your boredom. There is no source because you are a liar!!!

ps. Jon Gruden was seen in Okolona this morning getting a haircut at the Okolona Barber Shop. He then ate lunch across the street at Gattiland and landed a nice verbal from a 4th grader

not yet...

IMO. They would announce that Krags was out of here before having papers signed. In this age of technology Jurich wouldn’t risk bad pub like that. Hiring a new coach before officially firing another.

K is aware candidates are being reviewed

Kenny and Rocco have to say the party line -their info has proven incorrect in the past. They are simply doing their jobs. To slow down /mitigate damage with players, fans-and to buy time for negotiations to take place, if they are indeed doing so.

There is too much smoke on this thing from too many people at high levels to believe some shit isn’t going down.

I posted that top posters at ITV indicated that there would not be a press conference anytime soon. However— those same top posters indicated things are happening…

Skeptics

I don’t blame anyone for being skeptical…not at all.

A change is being made regardless, and the terms of that change are being completed as we speak.

Further, when lawyers and agents meet to negotiate the contract terms of a resignation/termination, athletic directors and coaches usually do not attend such meetings, so what Klein said is technically true.

Read / hear me now, believe me later.

best thing to do...

get rid of Krags now. Let some assistant be the interim. Get a few moral victories. Hire a NAME and surround him with Young, Hungry, Coaches who want to learn from a football legend. I don’t believe Gruden rumors but Tuberville is just as good IMO

Replacement

At least when Krag is let go, we have a strong interim coach in the OC.

Jurich tweet

“Steve Kragthorpe is our football coach. We do not comment on message board rumors.”

T.J., you just did

didn’t you?

Isn’t that like asking someone if you can ask them a question?

Got a call today...

From a college buddy who coaches at a Louisville area high school. Told me two former players who now play for Kragstache called him today and said that there was alot of buzz in the locker room about something happening after this weeks game.

Is that true? yes… Will it come to fruition?… hopefully

by EasternKYCard on Oct 8, 2009 5:33 PM EDT reply actions

Krag sucks. Kenny Klein should stick to basketball.

by Whacker77 on Oct 8, 2009 6:02 PM EDT reply actions

Kenny Klein Kan't help it.

The story may be true, it may be false but KK’s job is to deny it no matter what. Any press person, any spokesperson sells their soul. It’s the nature of the job.
