There is only one known cure for Krag1H1

And it's Earl Clark dressed up like a banana.

There's always money in the banana stand

Although, for some reason, all I think of when I see that picture is this:

Hypothetical.....a miracle finish.

We all know it will not happen. BUT, let’s say the Good Lord comes down and helps Krags win every game left on the schedule. That would make us what, 9-3? Man, I know this is an impossibility in the strictest sense, so, let’s say we lose 1 or even 2. Hell, let’s say we end up at 6-6. Get a bowl. Does Jurich keep Krag? Do you think fan discontent would preclude this? What if we end up a little better? Just thinking about a new coach has me more excited than any other point so far this Kragtastic year.
Or, do we lose game after game game after game? Does Jurich fire Krags before the year is up? 9-3, keep Krags? 1-7 keep Krags? Thoughts?

Go Cards!

If he beats who he's supposed to beat (Southern Miss, Syracuse, Ark St.) and goes 4-8 overall

I’m afraid he’ll still have a job. Anything worse, he’s fired at the end of the season. Anything better and Jurich will say “I told you so”. If he doesn’t win a game for the rest of the year and throws in a few more blowouts, he should (but won’t be) fired after the Syracuse game. Jurich will need to get somebody in and start recruiting ASAP.
My guess is 3-9 and he makes it last the entire season. Honestly, I still hope he wins 6+ games and turns it around, but then again I also hope I win the lottery someday.

Kragthorpe is leaving at the end of the year

A confidential search is underway with Koach’s knowledge.

Who are the possible replacements, Frank. I hear lots of stuff about Tuberville. Kind of blah if you ask me, but a big upgrade none the less.

by Whacker77 on Oct 5, 2009 6:12 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The names being heard most are Tuberville , Strong--and as a long shot , Gruden.

Other names have been mentioned but I hear those the most. No final decision has been made yet the last I ck’d, but BR may have more recent info…

Fulmer's name has been mentioned too, as well as some up-and-comers

But I think Jurich is going for a big name home run this time—my gut tells me TT, but any of the big names would make a huge impact in the nat’ media, recruiting , and would be a perennial king in the Big East IMO.

lottery

I had a five line quick pick for last Saturday’s drawing. I got one number. One. And that approximates the odds of the Cards having a winning season.

THE IF'ing GAME

IF Jurich gets rid of Kragthorpe this year (not a guarantee), I’d say he’ll have the deal done 8 games in. 1-7, 2-6 would give him the legitimacy to stand behind his word of looking for “progress”, as Krag’s record has gone from a sub-mediocre 6-6, to a bad 5-7, to a miserable, downright embarrassing finishing mark to be determined in November. He wouldn’t publicly make the move until some time after the last game, probably within a week, to allow the new coach to keep in touch with recruits (if he still wants those in the ‘verbally committed" fold (whatever that means), and get out and recruit during bowl season and into the spring. He would also get Louisville in the news during the lull between the season and all 34 some odd bowls. Plus, Kragthorpe can slip out of his post with an enormous check in hand and reminisce how he “almost” had the cards in contention every season at Louisville while personally staying out of the news. I think we’re all excited for change at this point =(

Earl's just trying to jump start his acting career as well.

Wants a part in the new Arrested Development movie. Still looks good.

Jurich is not stupid

And I firmly believe a man of his vision, who has worked as hard as he has to develop the vision he has for this athletic program, saw the writing on the wall during Kragthorpe’s first season. Even if there was no way he could publicly admit it during that time, I’m sure he knew what was obvious to everyone else. There was no way he could have canned Krag after the first or even second year without potentially damaging the program even further. He knows full well that in order for the next coach to be successful, we need a full roster of players and some sense of stability.

That is why I believe the question has never been IF but WHEN does he make his next move with regards to getting rid of Kragthorpe?

I agree but.....

…….am still offended by all the cleaning up the mess remarks. Gator Bowl without your star quarterback followed by a BCS win without your star running back. That’s the kind of mess I would love to have over and over.

The guys on ESPN imply Kragthorpe inherited a disaster.

That’s not true. He inherited a pretty darned good team, if I remember well. And they underperformed for him. As for the 22 guys who left? Sure there were some bad eggs. But none of those “bad eggs” got in trouble with the law while Petrino was here. And misbehaving away from campus isn’t something that many coaches can control anyway, other than saying “screw up and you won’t play,” which is what the previous coaching administration did.

The notion that Kragthorpe is paying a price for “cleaning up the program” is bull. We’re all paying the price because Krags is living proof of the Peter Principle. He’s been promoted beyond his ability.

Be careful...

…only Old folks know what the Peter Principle is.

Oh, sorry. I forgot, your an OldMan, too. :)

I know

I know two things. One is the Peter Principle and other is SK is a dick.

May Tom Peter's smile on Earl's Banana

And yes, you can take that anyway you’d like.

Sk is channeling his inner Eric Man-gina

not revealing the starting QB until game time so SoMiss “doesn’t know which one to prepare for”… i see this turning out wonderfully… kragtastic even.

I had the luxury

of sitting near the ex girlfriend of Froman (drunk and all). She had said that he knew he was starting on Tuesday last week.

Homecoming - Krag-out

The Pitt game was the black-out. Can homecoming be the Krag-out? What would be the proper attire. Bananas?

Florida State student group

is attempting to start a blackout for every home game until Papa Bowden leaves… they’re none too happy in Tallahassee either.
Just sayin

Blackouts from here on out

Let’s do this. We are morning the death of our football program at the hands of a lukewarm blooded murderer.

by sarasota-card on Oct 6, 2009 8:55 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Of course, if we do this we would have to out do FSU

We’re competing for the same pool of available coaches, so we have to out-blackout them. I think some black fedoras for the fellas and black veils for the ladies would really drive the message home.

by sarasota-card on Oct 6, 2009 9:04 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

this is acceptable, but this is what we’re aiming for here people.
