I have wondered all year why we’ve gotten so little respect in pre season polls, but now I know why. We’ve got a long way to go. As long as Pitino plays Jedi mind tricks and goes with funky lineups, it will be a struggle. The sooner he goes with Jennings and Samardo together, the better.

I think it's about where we belong at the moment....

But then again, we are notoriously slow starters, so i expect a slow start and for us to get better and better as the year goes. I think we can eventually become a top 15 team.

No way to know a thing from a game this early.

Samardo’s numbers were fool’s gold, and overall play was so inconsistent that, well, you just can’t tell. That said, I’m not certain that this won’t be a long and trying year. Don’t know where we go for the must-have score. Sosa also continues to be a source of consternation. Both he and Jerry will have to play much, much better than they showed against Georgetown. And I remain unconvinced that Jerry, much as I love him, can manufacture his own shot.

I tend to agree...ups and downs this yr...Sosa and Jerry neither have the raw

swagger of Siva —or even Preston.

Swop and Kuric look improved…but TJ ain’t…and I’m still unconvinced about our ability to rebound with the big boys, because Samardo looks about the same

And frankly, no matter what Coach says, I stiil am unconvinced we have reliable perimeter shooting

Top 25 with upside…

I believe this is the type of team Pitino Needs

Everyone talks about how we don’t have a go to scorer, but when we think we have had one in the past we have always failed. Last year, we relied on TWill and Earl to take up the slack when we needed a bucket and we got shutdown and knocked out in the Elite 8, Also in previous years like the 2005 Final Four we needed Garcia to show up and score for us and he was a huge dissapointment when he was shutdown. This team resembles a perfect team for Pitino, waves and waves of players that can play fast, shoot the three, and play hard defense. The only problem I see that we need is more rebounding, Pitino offense thrives and succeeds under offensive rebounding, which we deeply miss from last years squad. But I do guarentee this, we will wear teams out this year by the end of the game…

I think Pitino gets too much credit. I know I’m in the minority, but I don’t, and never have, seen the value in jockeying around with the lineup and rotation earlt in the season. If anything, I think it’s held us back. Pitino knows what lineup and rotation he’s going to use in the Big East. Better to get into that flow now and allow the guys to gain confiidence in the guys with whom they’ll be playing.

are you referring to yesterdays game in jockeying around the positions? I think any coach would do that, so they can see who works well together, what combos will bring speed or defense. I understand if it is 10 games in, but you have to see what you are working with at the begining. But i understand your point.

I was referencing the past few seasons where Pitino has messed around with the lineups. I think it slowed our orogress heading into the Big East, but it’s hard to challenge the recent records in the Big East.

why we're doubting his coaching

the year after winning the Big East season and tournament titles is a little puzzling.

why the hell

is kentucky ranked in the top 25 let alone the top 5? they didn’t even make the tournament last year. i tell you, they aren’t going to be that good. bunch of unproven freshman, that are being treated like lebron, kobe, and dwight. calipari couldn’t do nothing @ memphis until the big boys left conference usa. oh well just build em up to knock em down so i can laugh my ass off.

Cool

I figured with the 606 reference. My family roots are deep in there (Johnson County). You are deeeeeep in ‘wildcat land’. Props to you for mixing it up with the blue zombies there. I do the same every visit during the holiday season.

Not a big deal

I’d rather climb the polls than have hyped expectation at this point. It makes the boys hungry and they will have to rise to the critics-including Pitino. This is a classic Pitino team. No real big names, they are young, shoot well (except last night), play with crazy energy on defense, etc. We will have a few more losses this year, but this team will be fun to watch. They might have us on the edge of our seats night after night, but at least they will show up and give a good show-win or lose (Coach K, you listening?)

It will be interesting to see how UK performs this year. The returning players (besides Patterson) are fair at best. The freshman class look good, but they are 18 and haven’t played anybody with any size, experience or wisdom yet. Very, very interesting…

my source

is myself. as of today. will stein is the starter. froman isnt quite 100 percent from his injury last week and burke is still hurt too even though he saw action last week. consider this my test for others to trust my information. it’s true.

would generate a little excitement about the game and more butts in seats

but that would take the foresight to announce it now and not 3 minutes prior to the game.
