Apologies for the lack of a game day thread.

Here's a quick summary: My excitement level is 2.0, I'm playing in a charity golf scramble and won't actually be able to watch the game, and I think we're going to lose by a substantial amount.

It's cold up there and this picture's awesome, so it works.

I dunno, I'm pretty pumped...

…for being able to switch back and forth between OU/UT and our game. Nothing like quality football in the sun in front of 100,000 people in stunning HD…..and then our game….on WHAS….in negative def.

Score predictio

For the record, I’m goin’ 30-10.

by Mike Rutherford on Oct 17, 2009 11:47 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I say we keep it close..

and lose by ~10….low scoring affair, 21-10 or 17-7, something like that.

Also

I’m wearing a Cards pullover to the scramble, so, there’s that.

Enjoy the game everyone.

Allow me to be "that UofL fan"

We’re going to win 21-18.

I’ll eat those words later, but I’m feeling it today.

OUCH

OU/UT is NOT in HD because we’re on ABC, so they are showing it on the CW, which, despite being an HD channel on Insight, is in SD for some reason.

Gross.

Anyone care to change their prediction?

They said Pace wasn't ready....

…but he was 5 yards off the guy who was 2 yards past the first down line….so that seems like he is perfectly in tune with our secondary’s game plan.

Yep.

Stop on first and second down, then let them run right up the middle for a 16 yard TD.

I swear, we look clueless out there.

Still asleep...

..these cold noon games in front of small crowds have to be the toughest to get pumped for as a player, especially in the middle of a season like this, especially when the offense gives it away on the third play of the game.

That ball was uncatchable. I guess that’s better than taking a chance on a sure TD if he catches it.

"My guy"

I think he just has to say that. He’s his guy until he resigns.

These announcers are also saying that Kragthorpe does a good job calling plays and that the offense was top 10 in 2007 and it was the defense’s fault we went 6-6 in 2007.

It’s all spin and none of it matters.

by CardsFan922 on Oct 17, 2009 12:34 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Well, technically, that's true.

But it was Petrino’s offense.

We all see how good the offense has been since then. Oh wait…

by CARD_G6 on Oct 17, 2009 12:35 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I seem to remember....

..the offense sucking most of the game, and then when we were in catch-up mode, going no-huddle with Brohm to Harry mostly and getting a lot of yards/points in those situations.

The defense wasn’t good, for sure, but the offensive stats didn’t really tell the story of our season.

by CardsFan922 on Oct 17, 2009 12:36 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don't think it sucked.

I just think that it wasn’t quite up to snuff with what we were used to. It was still good, but it’s hard to be bad with that much talent. So maybe “underachieving” is a better word for it.

by CARD_G6 on Oct 17, 2009 12:39 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I went the mall here in Sarasota yesterday to look for a new Cards hat.

The guy working in Sports Fan-Attic said “We actually have several people that ask for Louisville stuff. I don’t know why?” I resisted the urge to punch him, and just said “We won the Orange Bowl three years ago. …Two Basketball NC’s.” I bought one of the three hats they had …rescued it really.

by sarasota-card on Oct 17, 2009 1:49 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Bilal and Adam looked good in the first half

(minus Adam’s 1 and 1/2 picks), but Powell isn’t going to be able to carry the ball 18 more times this game. If Vic is hurt, Ashley needs to get some carries quickly, or even Tronzo. But this is too much for Powell. I think he has 3 Recs. as well.

by 83fan on Oct 17, 2009 1:39 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Pre-season

We kept hearing about all three splitting carries. Vic got out there for like 4 plays (which doesn’t make sense if he is hurt?) and Ashley hasn’t been out there at all.

I know Powell was running well, but that maybe had something to do with the line / UConn defense?

He did the same thing with Anthony Allen in 2007. Remember the MTSU game?

by CardsFan922 on Oct 17, 2009 1:42 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I was thinking about the MTSU game.

I’d think Krag had learned his lesson, but maybe not.

Maybe Vic got hurt this week, but Ashely has looked good.

I am interested to see how we come out in the second half

Hopefully we dont have another Pittsburgh flop. His halftime adjustments (or lack thereof) has always been one of my largest issues with the Kragthorpe regime.

Ball control seems to be the M.O. today. I think he needs to leverage Froman’s ability to scramble to expand the play action game to the deeper third of the field

by bigdawgul57 on Oct 17, 2009 1:45 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I don't know...

…if Froman really has the arm strength or accuracy to go downfield that far.

Overall the offense has actually been good today….UConn seems to suck as well.

by CardsFan922 on Oct 17, 2009 1:47 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Totally understand your side

My thoughts are this…we keep throwing underneath, and UCONN seems to be jumping the underneath route…play fake the short receiver and take a shot 20 – 25 yds down the field

With as slow as our secondary is,

I would think a switch to a 3-4 or 3-3-5 would be in order. Especially considering we can’t really get pressure on the QB anyway. Maybe that would help with the zone we play EVERY FUCKING DOWN.

…for the love of god, where is Darius Ashley?

And I really hope the “Powell in funk after UK fumble in 2008” thing doesn’t happen again after two fumbles today.

but some of the people there turned really negative last basketball season and it’s not fun when everyone is negative all the time

wtf

just like the pitt game. close at halftime then we show our true colors. are you kidding me with this. i cant believe what im seeing 3 turnovers in one quarter result in 17 points for uconn. we should have at least 10 points off those possessions and be winning. i cant believe it

Victor Anderson with his longest run of the year

and he’s limping. Don’t play him anymore

Anderson..

…limping and CLEARLY not full speed.

Play a walk-on. Play Trent in the back field, or Doug.

Indiana State Finally Scored Again Last Week

After losing to Louisville 30 – 10 here is what Indiana State has done:

L Eastern Illinois 31 – 0
L South Dakota St 41 – 0
L Youngstown St 28 – 0
L Northern Iowa 62 – 7

In the season opener they did score 20 against NAIA Quincy College in a 26 – 20 overtime loss.

We totally suck.

by Cambroni Cardinals on Oct 17, 2009 2:42 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

no

an xp puts us down 11 and we still need 2 TDs. 2 point conversion was the right call there

by Cambroni Cardinals on Oct 17, 2009 2:43 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Wrong.

You give yourself a chance to convert the 2pt at the end of the game. 8+3=11=tie game.
