Louisville has a really good football team
Most of you probably didn't know this, but in other parts of the world the sport that we refer to as "soccer" is actually called "football."
Absorb this new knowledge, go back and read the headline again, laugh for hours.
For those of you who hadn't noticed, the Louisville soccer team is 9-1-2, ranked No. 7 in the country, and is a legitimate national title contender. The Cards' latest victim was none other than Kentucky, whom they bettered 1-0 at Cardinal Park on Wednesday night.
I've never been fully able to embrace soccer, but I will admit that it was my favorite sport to go watch in high school. I didn't understand any of the rules but I loved booing when the referee gave the ball to the other team, heckling opposing players from close distances, and being amazed by the fact that players could apparently shove each other multiple times without it being a big deal. I can only imagine that the same attractions are present in the game at the college level.
Anyhow, major congrats to the Louisville soccer team. Here they are being awesome:

Nice (and well deserved) props for the soccer squad...
and from what I hear (I happen to work in Major League Soccer) there are several pro prospects on this squad, as well. In fact, one of UofL assistant coaches, Brian Maissoneuve, played for the team I work for here in Columbus. Head Coach Ken Lolla has done a great job with the program since taking over in ’05.
Good luck the rest of the way, futbol Cards.

Definitely
Love what’s going on with the soccer team here, Lolla is obviously a great quality coach and another example of the attention to detail of Tom Jurich.
As for the team itself, I went to the WVU game earlier this year, definitely some good players on the wings and up front. If they were a little bit more powerful in central midfield we’d probably have a shot at a good run into the tourney.
To everyone: if you get a chance, go to a game, support our team, it takes literally 2 hours all told, costs.. 6 bucks or something similar to get in and you’ll get to see soccer as good as you’ll find this side of the MLS or European leagues. They’re solid, not divers or floppers, they pass and move and are patient. In other words, they play soccer like men, the way it’s supposed to be played. If you go and still think it’s for wusses, well, there’s no hope for you anyway.

I would highly recommend going to a game.
College soccer is pretty entertaining. Props to the Cards.

rising legit soccer program
but a little too agressive with the [slide] tackling from behind for my taste. Maybe do a few more fartleks in practice and a few less tackling drills; avoid red cards and senseless injuries.
