Let the bidding begin...
According to rotoworld:
Redskins owner Daniel Snyder wants Jon Gruden to be his next coach, sources tell Rick Snider of the Washington Examiner.
According to the report, Snyder began considering replacements for Jim Zorn after the Lions loss. Gruden is currently an analyst on Monday Night Football and has not been contacted yet by Snyder. Zorn could be gone by the team's Week 8 bye, but a permanent replacement probably won't be named until the offseason. Snyder has reportedly soured on Mike Shanahan because the former Broncos boss wants more front office control.

Obviously Gruden is going to get several offers - but good luck trying to outbid Snyder.

Jay G knows football
how bout the younger brother? knows the quick-strike, fast pace football from AFL. bring him in as OC along with an established head coach. they have to get a NAME this time based on how far we’ve slipped. he took the wrong guy from Tulsa. the right guy is lighting it up at Auburn (save last week).

I never thought Gruden would come here either
Maybe he’ll use Louisville’s offer as a plight to squeeze more money out of someone else…

Jay Gruden Best Choice
Jay not John was both a winning pro QB and a winning Pro Coach
Jay has NFL experience
Jay has GM experience
Jay is an offensive genius
The arena game is suited to train QB’s to read and release and put up points like a pinball machine. Kurt Warner made Issac Bruce and Tory Holt look better than they were with his ability to deliver a ball quickly and see the field quickly. How many Issac Bruce and Tory Holt highlights did you watch last week? Which arena QB took traditional doormat the Arizona Cardinals to the SB?
Jay will bring that arena offensive style and QB teaching to U of L. Petrino does something similar in his system and puts points on the board like crazy. Hell we all loved it when he was here.
We want Florida recruiting-lots of offense- and a coach that is not looking to leave in a hurry after a little success-why not hire an alumni?
Jay not only played here but came here with Schnellenberger to ’build" U of L football. He will coach with heart and he already has head coaching experience.
I do not know why U of L fans have forgotten the QB that gave the Cards their first winning season in 10 years and 8-3 to boot! Don’t you remember when we were thrilled to beat Murray?
Because of pioneers like Jay Gruden Louisville has a football success story to tell.
Louisvilles first upper tier victory – Virgina 1988- was because Jay refused to go dawn and delivered a victory in the final seconds. The beginning of the turnaround for U of L Football.
Do you think Jeff Brohm would have picked Louisville over ND, and Tennessee if Jay Gruden had not started the ball rolling. Not even Browning Nagle in the Fiesta Bowl year passed Jay’s TD’s and yardage totals. It took Chris Redman’s record setting year to top Jay’s year in 1988.
Come on Louisville do you always want to have to fight having a succesful coach that is always looking ahead to working at the “traditional biggies” or have someone who believes as much as we do that this is a destination job?
I’m just saying…..

Actually...
any team that hires John Gruden is required to pay Tampa 5.8 mil/year through 2011 because of John’s contract with them. That’s why NFL teams are apparently straying away from him.
