Maybe Herb Crook
taught him the karate kick he used in the Florida State fight back in 85
And was going to add...
before my fingers hit the wrong button, that I also wish we’d go back to a block “L.” That thing with wings looks like it belongs on the side of a NASCAR homogenous Chevy/Fusion/Dodge/Camry whatever.

Agree
While i agree about “The Ville” being on the front of the jersey, i have to disagree with going back to the original block L. Although i like the old school jerseys, they need to keep those for a one time game like last year. The new brand draws more of a younger crowd as well as a newer type of brand to the school in sports. I think IU has kept its style, and im not a big fan…but thats just my opinion.

Block style says 'tradition' etc.
And for better or for worse, Big East branding is more modern/agressive generally, I would guess in an attempt to differentiate the league as having an edge relative to Big 10/ACC/Pac 10 which brand on tradition a lot. I like it though, it contributes to the idea that we’re leading the way, both with style and substance.
you are so right....
that fat bird was the best mascot in the country…our mascot won multiple national championships in competition with other collegiate mascots….why did they ever change him? Does anyone remember the game day he came out with the chaise lounge; the pipe and mustache and did his Howard Schnellenberger impersonation??? Too funny.
This
the original L never should have been replaced.

I think they want a guy who’s going to get into the game and feel a little bit. I’ve always said, ‘I don’t really play baseball, I feel it.’ "
I seem to be the only one
I actually like “The Ville” on the front of the jerseys. It doesn’t necessarily have to be something we wear EVERY game, but as an alternate? The scoreboxes on the bottom of a basketball game on ESPN already read L’Ville, and it’s kind of a fun moniker that distinguishes us. I’m all for change.

I don't hate them either.
It seems to be a popular theme around here to hate those jerseys but I didn’t think they were the worst aspect of that night.

I agree
But you have to have something to back up a cool name.
Like miami is “The U,” we can’t be “the Ville” until we’re really “the ville”. You have to put some fear in your opponents in the first place.
Nothing says “we can push you around” like a 2 point win against a mid-level CUSA team.

The 'Ville, KY
I like'em.
EA is usually spot on with their uni’s.
I like these much better than last year’s. Can’t wait to see the black ones.

You Guys will bitch about f'ing anything
I can’t remember a time when more people whined about more inconsequential crap. The ‘Ville is a nickname. It’s catchy. Yes, it’s slang, and “lazy” english, but, good grief, who ever expects College Sports to be about Grammar. At least it’s better than ’Loserville".
I suspect that if a winning coach had unveiled these uniforms, and the team won handily, the complaints would turn to ecstasy. Everyone would “love the new Uni’s”. By the way, I’m not a Krapthorpe supporter, and I believe we have more critical complaints about Cardinal football than the damn uniforms. I don’t care if they played in Pink, they still suck because of the coach. Debating uniform details is just a big waste of energy.
Thanks for letting me vent, I feel much better now.
I expect college sports to be about grammar.
after all, they are university games played by students.
Agreed 100%
I remember “The Ville” started to get recognition during the ‘06 ’07 BCS run! never heard it mentioned too much before then but now I hear the complaints. It’s a name people…a name.

I don't know if the problem is with the nickname the Ville
as much as it being on the front of the uniform.

Shorts
They are tight (not John Stockton tight) I will be getting a pair of those.
The Ville jerseys.
I assume we’re talking about hoops jerseys and not football. If it is football, then you have to delete one of the "l"s.
