Jerry Smith and Terrence Jennings arrested last night
So apparently this is the trade-off for actually winning a football game.
University of Louisville Sports Information Director Kenny Klein has confirmed that basketball players Terrence Jennings and Jerry Smith were arrested Saturday night in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Both were charged with resisting arrest, held in Clark County jail and released Sunday. Jennings, a sophomore forward, and Smith, a senior guard, are on the starting roster for the 2009-2010 season at U of L. Coach Rick Pitino told WHAS11 that, "we are aware of the situation and will be handling it internally."
Fan-f'ing-tastic.

Hopefully they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time and they didn't actually do something bad
Although given the news that’s come out of basketball program recently, that probably won’t be the case

With only the details provided...
…sounds like wrong place, wrong time, and Clark County arresting a bunch of people for “resisting.” I would love to know how many other people were arrested along with them.

Agree about wrong place at wrong time
Sounds like they were at a homecoming banquet at horseshoe casino when, according to WAVE-3 “sources”, a fight broke out. Don’t know if they were involved in the fight, but
I kind of doubt it.
This is pure speculation on my part (so take it with a grain of salt), but my guess is the cops were called, Jerry and Terrence got an attitude or didn’t listen to the cops’ instructions, and they were subsequently arrested. Prolly just another case of the popo’s on a power trip…

Check the locale
According to Sosa’s twitter, the Horeshoe banquet isn’t until tonight.

Probably a fight over women
This doesn’t seem like much. Maybe a light suspension or something. Who knows? Maybe they will get the chair, I’m not a lawyer

WTF! Can’t we have one season or even one sport without drama? News flash. Nothing good ever happens after midnight. Even when you hook up it’s because of the beer goggles.

How can you only be charged with resisting arrest???
I mean, what were they being arrested for when they started resisting?
by flubby on Oct 11, 2009 6:33 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Resisting arrest is a much broader charge than most people think. Generally, arrests on this basis are made when police are called to a gathering of people, be it public or private, and they instruct someone at that gathering to leave and if there is a refusal by that person, as well as some physical resistance, an arrest is warranted.

FYI
Article has since been changed to “resisting law enforcement (a misdemeanor)” rather than resisting arrest.

We certainly don't know all the details
I had several black friends in college who were harassed by the southern Indiana cops. The only time I’ve ever had a problem with police was in Clark County, doing nothing illegal. I’m not at all saying this is a racial or unjust issue, just that I’ve experienced enough to know that an arrest in Clark County doesn’t mean anything in and of itself.

A fight at an alumni event?
This just doesn’t seem to be the place for a fight to break out.
