Comment From Sullivan Carew]
Hey Coach- Can you clear up these L'Ville rumors?

[Comment From Tommy Tuberville]
Well, that's all they are is rumors right now. I do hope to get back in coaching but I don't wish anyone any ill will in terms of losing games. Things will start happening in another month -- this is still too early.

What I read is: "Ive been contacted by U of L and will talk about it once Steve Kragthorpe is officially done."

Did he really say that?

Surprised he didn’t say he likes his new neighborhood and that his wife likes the area schools.

This us looking like a pretty much done deal then I guess.

I’ll still wait for something official before I start sending out the party invitations, but I’ll go ahead and order the “Welcome to the TuberVILLE” posters.

I still say Tuberville is nothing more than a flat tire, but he’s better than the current train wreck. After having Gruden dangled in front of my eyes for a week, Tuberville seems, right now, like a let down.

He’s definitely a solid defensive coach, but Louisville made a name for itself with offense. I would hate to become a program that wins almost exclusively with defense. I prefer a program that makes its name with offense. Stil, a winner’s a winner.

no no no!

I don’t want this guy & I feel that the majority would follow suit. To be honest I want a coach that will come in & say “Hey! I want our jerseys to have the word ‘Louisville’ rather than ‘The Ville’ on the front!”. Defense is the key to win a Nat. Champ & Gruden would ooze Defense while his bro could handle Offense. Hire the Grudens!!!

Tuberville is only a let down because Gruden has been floated as a possibility.

But Gruden may not want the job, and it is likely he doesn’t. Tuberville is otherwise almost a perfect fit so long as he can arrange for a good OC to take the job. He has a name, recruiting connections in the south (where we used to strive), and a couple of undefeated seasons on his resume. And it is extremely unlikely that he’d leave us for a “bigger” program because of his history at Auburn. He is likely to be satisfied building us up for 10 seasons.

Try as I might, I just can’t convince myself to like the idea of Tuberville as our coach. I know I will be in the minority, but that’s how I feel.

No pizzaz for one. I think he succeeded because he had the SEC to use as a recruiting tool. Take away that back drop and I’m not sure his personality can bring the recruits so many expect. I know he’s a competent coach, but the way he handled Tony Franklin and the offense bothers me.

I’m also worried about switching the program to one based on defense. We made our name with offense and a good offense always give us a chance to win. A good defense doesn’t always mean that. For instance, our defense under Cooper was pretty good, but look what happened.

I hate his idiot name. And he sucks.

Auburn liked him, and then they didn’t like him very much. Because he’s a loser. You can’t trust a man named Tommy. I would full be behind Thomas Tuberville. I wouldn’t be behind him really.

Neither Gruden or Tuberville really do it for me.

I’m a fan of guys who have proven capable of doing more with less, and the reason is, simply, we just have less to work with at Louisville. I don’t like it, and to some extent we can improve ourselves, but we’re never going to have the resources that the top teams from other BCS conferences have. We make a lot of money here, and our facilities are top notch, but the fact is KY doesn’t produce enough talent to sustain even one great program. With some of that talent leaving for UK, we have to go to other states and compete with OSU, Fla, Auburn, and Bama to get kids. I know we got Whitehead, but I just don’t think we’re going to win many of those battles. Those kids have their dream schools, and not many of them are going to choose Louisville when they can play in the SEC. I guess the point is, unless Tuberville can recruit on the level he did at Auburn, I’m not sure he’s the kind of guy who can maximize the resources we have here. He had a few great years at Auburn, but he also had access to amazing talent that I’m not sure he can get here. The same goes for Gruden. He had some great years, but he had a lot of average years too. In the NFL talent is spread pretty evenly, so I’m not sold on the idea that he can win with less talent. Both are great coaches, but this is a different kind of situation. We can win big here, but it takes a coach who can pick out overlooked kids and make them better while capitalizing on the smaller pool of great talent in our backyard. John L and BP were great at that, but I don’t know if Gruden or Tuberville would have the same ability.

Yea, having Gruden dangled in the rumor mill paints Tuberville as sort of a letdown, but...

he is still a great coach and coming from the SEC where he used to do well will be a huge adrenaline injection for our program. This guy is battle-tested, has strong recruiting ties, and knows what it takes to win. Remember, he once went undefeated in the SEC. That almost never happens. I believe he would thrive in the Big East.

I’m still hoping Jurich gives us Gruden (like a kid waiting for Santa on x-mas), but if not, I think I’ll be happy with Tuberville.

They have always said...

A good defense wins championships! I would take Tuberville yeah I understand everyone wants Gruden but if he isn’t interested I think this is for sure a go to hire.
