A Semi-Technical HD Question.

So I watched the UofL - Syracuse game at home on "The Big East Network" on my HD television.  The game was not broadcast in HD, but in lousy old SD.  I was surprised that there wouldn't be better cameras at a game the likes of this, but assumed that "The Big East Network" just didn't own the expensive HD cameras.  That's why I was even more surprised when I was watching a game afterwards on CBS where they showed highlights of the UofL game in beautiful, crystal clear HD! I rewound it to make sure CBS wasn't just changing the aspect ratio of the video, but there wasn't any distortion that would make me think they were.  I'll be watching Sportscenter tomorrow, and if the highlights are in HD I'll be more confused.  What gives?  Does anyone who is more familiar with this sort of thing know?
