Get this tough road win, and we come home with good momentum.
Got to play with the intensity of the UK game!
ESPN, I believe
…good luck everybody…I’m heading down to my clubhouse to watch the game.
Go Louisville.
Perfectly hedged...
….as long as we play the best we can, I think this is a no-lose. If we get blown out by 20, obviously that would suck. But Nova plays us tough (denies the post) and we’ve probably never won in Philly?
Either way, should be a great game.
Well I can't complain so far
but….. More evidence that Sosa should only shoot from the key. and twice I’ve seen Earl pull up outside instead of going to the hole where he could have gotten a great ally-oop
The problem with T-Will throwing the entry pass from the corner
is that no one honors his outside shot so it’s an automatic double team.

Nice!
Love to see him able to put the ball on the floor and take a guy one-on-one. That’s what I’ve seen Greg Monroe from Georgetown doing, and what separates him from Samardo in my mind as an offensive player— that, and Monroe’s little jump hook. If Samardo can do that more consistently, he’ll be a force.
How is Jay Wright tan in the middle of January?

Decent start...
….Nova seems to have no idea how to deal with the zone. Which is weird for a team with 4 guards?
Hey good sosa, maybe take off your jacket, sit down, get comfy, stay awhile? We’ve got HD.
Cunningham didn't hit Samuels in the head...
….until late in the play. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Tivo slow motion
NO WAY that was a foul.

Not a foul
But whatever, he would have had an easy two if they didn’t call it.

I really love TJ playing well
It helps us alot and it makes my prediction of him being the next Amare Staudemire a little more realistic
I just remember Rick talking about
how he was gonna be an instant impact player… and I hadn’t seen it until recently
*too hard
Nice move by Reynolds. I think up and down is good for us. Not sure if “still feeling it” applies with only his 2nd basket 12 minutes in.

No reason to make a no-look pass there, T-Will
Come on fellas.
by Mike Rutherford on Jan 10, 2009 12:31 PM EST reply actions
When T-Will's out
Somebody else has to rebound.
by Mike Rutherford on Jan 10, 2009 12:35 PM EST reply actions
We're shooting 20% from 3....
and a ton of turnovers and Nova just used an 11-0 run to tie it.
So all things considered, not horrible.
Nova playing good defense.
Clark has 2 fouls..
….and keeps trying to get his 3rd

It might be time
To see if George Goode can play the four.
by Mike Rutherford on Jan 10, 2009 12:40 PM EST reply actions
that should've been the plan all along
swop won’t be a contributor till next season
big swing..
..TJ with the nice block, missed 3 and then Nova dunks…..wish TJ could catch passes on the break, Jerry would have passed it to him.
What a half
Swings both ways… we couldn’t have played worse for about 6 or 8 minutes there, but once T-Will came back in and shored up our rebounding, we steadied a little bit and starting making better decisions with the ball. We also got to the line and actually made some free throws. A good half.
He's looking a lot better the last couple games
The jump shot last game was something we hadn’t seen, and with the exception of that turnover where he dribbled on his foot, his ball handling has been pretty good. A couple good moves, a drive… lots of good things we haven’t seen much of before.
that big east lineup of games...
is absolutely ridiculous.
and digger phelps is most definitely a tool
All right, kids
Second half has started. React accordingly.

Sue grafton vs. the ceo for american eagle?
she would kick his ass in an alumni brawl
I really thought the guys would give up after the three, and again after the inside swish
But I’m so glad they haven’t. This isn’t the easily discouraged team that played the first 5 games of the season, and I’m happy.
Crappy call
One of those calls made by a ref out of reflex…. guy reached in other guy lost the ball, must have been a foul.
Terrence Jennings has the longest arms
since the alien at the end of Close Encounters.

Does anyone on our team
have a rebound besides T-Will?
by Mike Rutherford on Jan 10, 2009 1:29 PM EST reply actions
E5
actually has 8 according to ESPN.com

Earl....
….taking over the game.
Nova is getting inside pretty easy on us. They are missing lots of shots but they shouldn’t be able to get the ball inside so easily.
Sloppy couple of minutes.
Rebounding is always better when Jennings is in
But the play has been way too fast for him right now.
t will
doesn’t need to get any more fouls today. if he comes out we might not get a rebound for the rest of the game
What's up with the horn operator
making me think someone has fouled out every time he gets to do his job?
That's at least the 3rd time Cunningham has basically thrown Sam to the floor
her’s gotten 1 foul ourt of it
Foul trouble...
….our big men are in it, our guards are not. I thought Big East was other way around?
Two of the calls on T-will were crap.
Worst play in the game right there...
….fouling the 80% free throw shooter 90 feet from the basket.
Nice creation of offense by McGee.
If it comes down to it...
….I’m fine if he doesn’t have a time out left to diagram a play for us to take the lead.
Wow
Worst possession ending with a made bucket ever?
by Mike Rutherford on Jan 10, 2009 1:58 PM EST reply actions
3-25 from 3 point line...
…..and lots of those have been good, open shots with extra passes, etc.
2 minutes for glory. Need to pull out a win.
Time for T-Will and Earl to step up
Jenning is playing hard on the glass though, thank God.
Like that block.
Don't know if I agree
If you want a three, put in Will Scott. He always seems to make his first off the bench, even if it’s from half court.
No no no
too fresh of a player to put in now

Oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit
Don’t foul.

My bad
I think the announcer said timeout by Villanova. I should know better than to listen to the announcers.
Call an ambulance
I think I just had a heat attack, lol
How in the world
did we just win that game?
by Mike Rutherford on Jan 10, 2009 2:15 PM EST reply actions
I don't know and I don't care
First 2-0 Big East start ever, big road win against a good team ranked higher than us… I’m living it up.
All that matters
Is it’s a win. 2-0 on the road.
by Mike Rutherford on Jan 10, 2009 2:20 PM EST up reply actions
in the big east against a ranked team
i’ll take it however it comes
I'm just so happy we weathered the storm more than anything.
This is exactly the type of game we would have lost a few weeks ago. By more than 1.
Unbeknownst to me
My gf was outside talking to her mom.

Paul Roger's just called the post-game interview with Pitino "Wacky"
I wonder what makes an interview strange. Flip over to KRD if you’re curious.
TO's
I just heard Pitino’s post game comments. On the inbounds play, they guys did exactly the opposite of what he said. On the inbound at the end, E5 did the wrong thing. The common thread, play came after TO’s. I still have to ask, what the fuck does Pitino say to them in timeouts?
After times out...
We’re terrible. Honestly, Pitino must speak in tongues or something late in the game because after he chats them up for a while, we do nothing. Both T-Will and Earl forgot to put a body on the man next to them ON THE FREE THROW LANE for crissakes! And T-Will went brain dead on the last attempt at a press.
But what the hell. We’re 2-0 in the Big East and won on the road in Philly, though we tried and tried to give it away, Villanova was having none of it. Thanks be to them.
theoldman
His chosen tongue yesterday
was Serbo Croatian. He employs this particular language in months which feature the letter “r”.
In yesterdays second time out, he used this Middle European tongue with great flourish as he asked Samardo to “Take off the boxing gloves and catch a couple of those passes.”…and this was NOT a metaphor.
Or as our buddy boy Borat might say, and relevant to nothing….“I like a sex?”
Record?
I think this qualifies for the most comments on a article since Card Chronicle was established.
Yeah, Final4Galore
but the number of comments from our frothing selves evident in a frenetic “live thread” is not the same as our contemplative thoughts on Mike’s actual articles.
Know what I mean?
