Week 3 BlogPoll Ballot
I haven't been posting these on the main page this year, just because it seems far less interesting with the Cards nowhere in sight. But for those interested, here's my ballot for week three:
| Rank | Team | Delta |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Southern Cal | -- |
| 2 | Georgia | 2 |
| 3 | Oklahoma | 4 |
| 4 | Florida | 2 |
| 5 | LSU | 1 |
| 6 | Missouri | 1 |
| 7 | Ohio State | 4 |
| 8 | Texas | 5 |
| 9 | East Carolina | 16 |
| 10 | Auburn | 1 |
| 11 | Kansas | 1 |
| 12 | Alabama | 3 |
| 13 | Penn State | 5 |
| 14 | Arizona State | -- |
| 15 | Wisconsin | 3 |
| 16 | Oregon | -- |
| 17 | Wake Forest | 6 |
| 18 | Utah | 1 |
| 19 | Fresno State | 3 |
| 20 | California | 6 |
| 21 | Texas Tech | 1 |
| 22 | South Florida | 7 |
| 23 | UCLA | 3 |
| 24 | Illinois | -- |
| 25 | Georgia Tech | 1 |
Dropped Out: West Virginia (#8), Cincinnati (#19), Brigham Young (#21).
Thoughts:
--Ohio State down four, but I maintain the exact same level of confidence (31%) in their ability to beat USC that I had this time last week.
--The first ballot of the season is (obviously) based solely on potential. My philosophy on polling is that the amount of credence paid to resume should slowly increase as the weeks go by, building up to the final ballot of the season, which is (again, obviously) based entirely on resme. This leads me to ECU's ranking of nine. The Pirates have probably had the best first two weeks of anyone in the country, but on paper they still probably don't rank any higher than 20th, leading to a momentary stop somewhere near the middle.
--Yes, I have one Big East team ranked and they come in at No. 22. No, I'm not happy about it.
--Texas Tech is not one of the 15 best teams in the country. I know that, you know that, and I truly think that deep down, even the people voting them 11th or 12th know that. -
--I'm still riding the Todd Reesing wave of awesomeness (undersized, wears No. 5, throws a little side-armed...he's me X 50), although I hope to be off late Friday night.
