Walz lands huge commitment
Jeff Walz may have landed the biggest recruit in the history of the U of L women's basketball program when Ohio's Asia Taylor committed on Monday.
Asia Taylor, one of the top 30 girls' high school basketball prospects in the country for the Class of 2009, didn't sound like someone ready to commit last week when she called University of Louisville women's coach Jeff Walz.
"I was acting like I was in a sad mood," Taylor said. "I was like, 'Hey, Coach I am sorry but I have decided to go another way.' And there was just silence."
Taylor didn't let Walz fret too long before making his day.
" 'Psych, I am coming to Louisville,' " Taylor then said. "It was the funniest thing ever. It was one of the best days of my life."
The 6-foot-1 Taylor from Columbus, Ohio, is ranked as the No. 27 player and No. 3 wing forward nationally by the All-Star Girls Report.
"Just thinking about everything, Louisville was the perfect fit for me," Taylor said. "It's really almost too good to be true."
Get up, Jeff Walz, get way up.

Jeff Walz
We held a joint event between SGA and athletics this weekend and Coach Walz was the lone coach to make an appearance. Somewhere in between his taunting freshmen from the seat of the dunking booth and him flying down the slip and slide I realized I had a full-on man crush.
Guy is cool as the other side of the pillow (are the kids still saying that??).
