Michael Bush is back

Making his professional debut and playing for the first time in nearly two years, Michael Bush accounted for 56 total yards and a touchdown while leading Oakland to an 18-6 victory over San Francisco on Saturday.

Naturally, Jerb has those of us who missed the game covered (the classic Mike Bush touchdown comes near the end of the video).

We'll all have a chance to watch more former Cards doing the pro thing when Brian Brohm and the Packers take on Mario Urrutia, Brandon Johnson and the Bengals tonight at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

Secret Weapon

He was mowing down SF defenders. Bush will now be my secret pick for fantasy football. Thanks Jerb.

UofL

Ok, so let me get this straight. In 2004, UofL played in the Liberty Bowl with the following guys on the roster:

- Michael Bush
- Kolby Smith
- Brian Brohm
- Harry Douglas
- Jason Spitz
- Travis Leffew
- Renardo Foster
- Kurt Quarterman
- Gary Barnidge
- Elvis Dumervil
- Amobi Okoye
- Montavious Stanley
- Brandon Johnson
- Nate Harris
- Kerry Rhodes

So with the current roster, what bowl do you think they’ll make? I didn’t even include Lefors or Gates or Russell as they’re not in the NFL.

2004

I’m still far from convinced that the ‘04 team wasn’t better than the ‘07 squad. Forget the Kerry Rhodes drop, if LeFors doesn’t get knocked silly and fumble a center exchange deep in our own territory, then we’re 11-0 and BCS’ing.

That team probably played its second worst game of the season in the Liberty Bowl and still knocked off an undefeated squad more adept to playing in cold weather. I would have loved to have seen them line up against Va. Tech or Texas.

Liberty Bowl

I also feel that 2004 group was pretty damn good. Each team had 1 game which very well could have gone differently and ended with a W for UL (Miami with Lefores injury and Rhodes drop in 2004 and Rutgers with no Michael Bush and the William Gay offsided on the field goal-still hard to watch because I was, and still am a big fan of his).

Also, that liberty Bowl was actually warm. it was like 75 degrees that day even though it was December 31st and in Memphis. I was actually hot wearing jeans. Yeah, i think that might have been the wrost first half of the season, but coming back to win was pretty awesome.

Temperature

Really? I was taking in the game from Lexington, so I guess my memory is a bit fuzzy. Of course in my mind we played in 17 Liberty Bowls in nine years, and all of them were played when the temperature was no more than 20 degrees.

Yeah

I’ve been to 2 Liberty Bowls, the first one, was freezing. The one against Boise St., i was prepared to freeze my ass off, but it was perfect for tailgating and watching a football game.

2004

Don’t forget we also had Robert McCune and William Gay starting on defense. God who knew our defense was stacked?

don't forget Eric Shelton..

Shelton was on that roster too.

And I believe the Titans/Raiders game is on Fox on Friday night, even better! My brother is going to be in attendance tonight in Green Bay sporting his Brohm Jersey.

Shelton

How could I forget!

Jerb2, also THANK YOU very much for the fantastic videos. You don’t know how much this means to us folks not in Louisville. VERY, VERY much appreciated.
