Big East media picks Cards to finish seventh

Yikes.

The annual media poll was released this morning in order to formally commence this year's Big East football media day in Newport, R.I.

Defending champ West Virginia was the runaway favorite to repeat, snatching 22 of the possible 24 first-place votes.

Here's how the entire poll looked:

1. West Virginia (22) - 189 pts
2. South Florida (1) - 149 pts
3. Pittsburgh (1) - 128 pts
4. Rutgers - 110 pts
5. Cincinnati - 98 pts
6. Connecticut - 97 pts
7. Louisville - 69 pts
8. Syracuse - 24 pts

Seventh by 28 points? Double yikes.

Louisville was picked to win the league before the start of the 2005 season, and was tabbed as the runner-up in both 2006 and 2007.

Triple yikes.

I am trying....

so hard to buy into what TJ is saying about the coach but when I see something like this it’s hard to do…...if K would just come out and communicate a little bit with the fan base, it wouldn’t seem so divided between TJ/coach and a lot of the fans. I sure hope that on 9/1, we all have a reason to believe !

the sad thing is..

syracuse probably has a legit gripe about us not being behind them!

Really?

Is that you Hunter? Man, I hope you know how high the fans are on you and how glad we are to have you. We are all behind the team win or lose – we KNOW you and your team will give us all you have and we can’t ask for more than that…...unless it’s a promise to kick some butt on 8/31. Best of luck to you and we are looking forward to watching you play on Sundays when you leave U of L.. Go CARDS!

Not the real Hunter

If it was, that would have been the most depressing comment of all time.

no, i'm Hunter Leghorn Cantwell,
14 is Hunter Fitzwilliam Cantwell. I guess I can understand the confusion though.

that's funny ....

all my comments stand though – we are SO glad we got him – you too Leghorn. Are you sure you guys aren’t foolin’ with me? I never know.

Yikes?

I have a few other more appropriate words…....

How depressing...

Maybe this can be a means of motivation.

Go Cards!

Let's see, prime motivational tools nowadays for our team are

1) rallying round the shot teammate, and

2) “let’s show ‘em—they ranked us just barely ahead of Syracuse!”

but, you use what you got…
