Notre Dame AD

Notre Dame is about to come calling on Mr. Jurich.  I saw yesterday that the AD is leaving and they would be looking in about "100 directions" for his replacement.  My guess is that a lot of those directions will be due south of South Bend and the length of the state of Indiana.  Jurich has been great at UL but if Notre Dame calls, you leave.  The only exception to this is if you want to be the undisputed "man" at a school.  I'm no expert but I cant see the Notre Dame AD being as omnipotent as Jurich can be at UL.  I'd say this is something we should all be concerned about.  The one position Tom probably doesnt have a list of candidates for at UL is his own.  That leaves the search up to the University and thats a little scary.

I don't think...

TJ would necessarily bolt for Notre Dame – I agree that they will probably come talk to him because they haven’t BEEN Notre Dame for years either in Bball or Fball…...I am not naive enough to believe that Tom will never leave U of L but I don’t think he’d jump for Notre Dame. In Louisville, he IS the man – at ND, he’d have those interferring boosters that suck the wind out of their program and are part of the problems they’ve been having. Here in Louisville, U of L is HIS university, Louisville is HIS city and the fans are HIS fans…...hope he stays.

Something better that ND job.

One thing that’s better than being the ND Athletics Director….being offered it and turning it down. Lou Holtz said there is no greater pressure in college sports than at Notre Dame.
TJ has CREATED the best AD job in the country for himself. He both deserves and owes it to himself to enjoy the fruits of his labor and stay in THE greatest College Sports Town in America!

This is just my opinion, but

I am not worried about the possibility that ADTJ may be leaving. He’s staying.

The modern UofL athletic department is his creation and he’s staying.

If and when he ever does leave, his footprint is so profound the next AD would have to be Mitch Barnhart to screw it up.

New existing facilities second to none = championship level coaches = top recruits = success.

He’s staying. Besides, ND is a tough gig, and ADTJ owns this town.

I'll be very surprised

If Notre Dame doesn’t at least initially go after someone with direct ties to the university. I would bet a hefty chunk of change that Ohio State AD Gene Smith and Xavier AD Mike Bobinski are far above Jurich on that particular wish list.
