McDonnell says no to Auburn
And in the best piece of news of the day...
University of Louisville baseball coach Dan McDonnell turned down an overture from Auburn today and says he plans on staying with the Cardinals.
Auburn had asked and received permission from athletic director Tom Jurich to speak with McDonnell, and McDonnell confirmed that he "had a couple of conversations" about the Tigers' head coaching vacancy.
"I was flattered and I appreciated the interest," the second-year U of L coach said. "But after a few conversations and reassessing with Tom everything that's going on here, my family and I feels like Louisville is our home. I plan to be here for some time."
Fantastic news for the program, and fantastic news for baseball in the city of Louisville.
Please, feel free to stay as long as you'd like.

Auburn Human Resources Department
Can someone please call the Auburn Human Resources Department and give them the phone #s for a few other universities? Is Jurich the only person they have in their speed dial?
Leave our Goddamn coaches alone you vultures.

Saw your comment after the post (frowny face)
But your contribution was enough to earn you an invisible toboggan tip, and some people now are saying those are even better.

Thank goodness...
we heard that “a big time” school was interested in McCoach – so glad he is staying put. What is up with Auburn anyway? Have they ever had an original idea – get lost !!!!! So very glad coach is staying….. next year should be an awesome year.
Named him "McCoach"
I wrote 3 articles about McDonnell on my Smokin’ Fastball blog site. In one of them I named him ” McCoach”. I hope the nickname sticks because it says that this guy is really special. He’s the perfect fit for the Cardinal program and vice versa.
