What do you think?
I have heard Krag on two separate occasions make the statement that he had to take a pay cut to come to Louisville.....do you think that's true? I'm not sure how anyone would know whether or not this is true but I'm interested in your opinions on this....I can't believe he would have to take a pay cut UNLESS he had a circle of wealthy people at Tulsa paying him over and above his package-salary.....I do know that U of L pays their coaches very well and that's why I don't understand why he'd be making less here than at Tulsa. Any ideas?

It's totally true
And I can relate, leaving a seven figure job as a blogger for Austin Peay to take this gig wasn’t an easy call, but they say you can’t put a price on happiness.
Rumors about you, Mike
We heard that you were seen at a Southern Indiana airport meeting on a private jet with Auburn bloggers who had a blank check for you to fill in. Another rumor had you on your back porch practicing Soooey-pig-sooey. .Go ahead….deny it.
Please don’t go anywhere, Mike, it would be too dull without you!
I always thought
Mike was more of a Georgia kind of guy. Eh, I prefer he sticks with the closer version of red.

Probably true
I found a link on the web that shows Kragthorpes contract at 1.45 mil. The guy that replaced kragthorpe at Tulsa is at 1.1 mil. Its a question of upside to me. Taking a lateral pay move or even slightly less is a great move if you can go to uncharted waters in a few years. Tulsa would top out at 1.5-2.0 mil. If Kragthorpe would produce the Petrino-like wins over a 4 year period, some of that new stadium money would find its way to him and knock him into very elite company with regards to salary.
Unfortunately, that aint going to happen and its going to look like the worst 1.4 million spent since the Yanks paid Carl Pavano 1.5 million per start in 2005.
He Hate UK
Pavano, Hell
....the Yanks are still paying Don Gullett from 1977.

Paycut
All I know is that anybody who makes reference to “I took a paycut to come here,” probably has their stay measured in weeks…
Coaches' contract details
Be careful comparing the total numbers on coaches’ contracts, Linda. Some contract totals are as misleadiing as global warming. (but not as big a hoax)
The important thing is what the coach has to DO to get ALL of the money. They might get 100 grand of it IF at least 95% of the kids graduate. (fat chance) They might get 200 G’s more for being named “Coach of the year” (at least 100+ other guys are competing for that one). Furthermore they have to win the league championship, have 20 guys on the all conference team, get in a DECENT bowl game, blow out 3 patsies by at least 60 points whilst not entertaining a single parole officer on the sidelines. Not exactly a breeze.
Ooooops…..one more thing….do you dislike cry babies as much as I do?......DRILL ANWR!
Misread
Tom, I just about thought we were going to the circa 1967 Las Vegas showgirl follies route as I misread your posting that in order to fulfill every bonus clause in his contract, the prospective coach would not only have to get his team to a decent bowl game but that he had to blow out 3 pasties.
Brings to mind the introduction that Jack Paar, 1950’s Late Night host once used to introduce the zaftig, voluptuous, and very healthy blonde bombshell of that same era: ”...And here they are, Jayne Mansfield.”
haox?
global warming. (but not as big a hoax)
Good grief.
