Unbelievable night down here in Charlotte, where good reigns and all is right with the world.

Louisville just beat Tennessee in the Sweet 16 by more than it beat Boise State in the first round.

This is awesome.

More tomorrow.

What a game. The team has to be exhausted today, as spent as I am. And I was just sitting on a couch!

How was the arena? Did UofL fans buy a lot of tickets from pissed UT fans?

Still trying to figure out a way to make it down there tomorrow.

This is the game we've wanted, a chance to take on the best when we're playing our best. Losing to BYU was a blessing in disguise. Makes this game much bigger.

Man, I wish I could be hopeful for Card fans

but Carolina fans were swarming the Wassau and Tn fans after their losses.

There were 15000 Carolina fans--out of 20000 seats.

We'll be lucky to get our 2000 up to 3000.

But...we've had luck in a sea of blue before, a few times

(And, I've quickly come to dislike UNC fans--as we were trailed by jeering and taunting Carolina fans as we walked to the hotel 2 blocks away.)

Onto UNC...

Oh my word.

I've never seen this kind of basketball.

It's not even like we were hitting shots, because we went ice cold the whole second half. Earl and Padgett were huge, we had some great minutes with Preston on defense (not so much on offense), but the kid hustles.

What do you all think our chances are against UNC?

An epic game in U of L history--whichever way it falls.

Big, big talent on both sides and coaches at the peak of their games.

I'm shocked....

that UNC fans were taunting. UT fans? Always. But I really thought UNC fans were above that kind of thing - I thought they had more class. Too bad. Well 2000 or less, U of L fans are the best in the country. Man, our guys looked like the best in the country too last night. WOW! Are we sure that Earl is coming back next year????

Does anyone remember.....

back in 1980 when a reporter asked Wade Houston..."How is U of L going to match up with North Carolina?". Wade's answer was awesome when he responded: "How is North Carolina going to match up with Louisville?". (Uh, as I recall, we matched up with them very well) So, how IS UNC going to match up with U of L tomorrow? Roll Cards, roll.

The win

There are several points about which U of L fans should be particularly proud when it comes to last night's game.

First, defensively, we jumped in their jocks, grabbed them by the scrotum and didn't turn loose until the clock ran out. Really terrific defensive effort.

The other really defining part of the game was the team's absolute refusal to fold. We weathered a storm in the first half though we were turning the ball over in the most silly of ways. A failure to grab it here; blind eye to someone behind us there. Despite that, when Tennessee came a runnin' we gathered ourselves and went into the locker room with a lead.

Then in the second half when the Vols came to within a point, we refused to blink again. Instead, we stretched the lead and when an absolutely horrible technical called by some attention-seeking, ego-bruised official for the slightest of reasons threatened to blunt our momentum, we gathered again and refused to wilt.

Remember this as we savor the win and think about UNC -- as great a game as Earl Clark had, and it was terrific, he began the game with three turnovers out of the first four instances he touched the ball.

We can be better, is what I'm saying. And that bodes well for the Cards against North Carolina. We have yet to play our absolute best.
