Revenge factor

Good win today.  1 game from the title!

Thanks to Cincy choking against Prov today, lots of scenarios are now pointing to a Seton Hall/Cincy #8/#9 BE tourney matchup.  How sweet would it be to get the 1 seed and get to exact revenge on Mick or Gonzo?

Rank    Team             W-L    Tie Breaker
1    #18 Louisville       15-3
2    #10 Georgetown    14-4    TB1 - miniconf 2-0
3    #16 Connecticut    14-4    TB3 - record vs UofL
4    #17 Notre Dame    14-4    TB3 - record vs UofL
5    #21 Marquette       12-6
6    West Virginia       11-7
7    Pittsburgh         10-8         TB1 - h to h
8    Seton Hall         10-8         TB1 - h to h
9    Cincinnati         9-9         TB1 - h to h
10    Villanova         9-9         TB1 - h to h
11    Syracuse         7-11
12    Providence    5-13         TB3 - record vs GT/Uconn
13    DePaul    5-13         TB3 - record vs GT/Uconn
14    St. John's    4-14
15    South Florida    3-15
16    Rutgers    2-16

Assumptions:
UL over GU
UConn wins out
Marq over Syr
ND wins out
WV wins out (including over Pitt)
Pitt over depaul
Nova over USF and Prov
Seton Hall over Syr and Rutgers
Cincy over depaul

Even with some changes (e.g. Syracuse over SHall), pretty good change of the 8/9 SHall/Cincy game setting up for us.

Now all we have to do is beat Georgetown!

Ugh
Under your projections, as the 3 seed we would play the 6/11 winner -- West Virginia v. Syracuse.

I wouldn't mind WVU again (although Sagarin has them has the EIGHTH BEST TEAM in the country) but I think Syracuse playing in NYC for a spot in the tourney would be a tough game.

Let's hope we win next week and get a revenge game -- I think we would destroy either cinci or seton hall this time around.

Even worse
If Pitt beats WV.

Then we get the winner of Pitt/Syracuse.  I'd rater avoid Pitt if we can, although watching a rematch of the last Pitt/Syracuse game would be nice.

I guess..
...there are no easy roads in the Big East tourney.

As the 3 seed, we get the Pitt/Cuse/WVU winner and then UConn -- who I would love to play again.

If we get the 1 seed, we get Cinci/SHU (revenge!) and then the #4 seed ND in the semis.  Don't want to face THOSE guys again -- although we did dominate them for 37 minutes, they can sure shoot the basketball.

I'll take ND over GU or UConn
If they can't beat us when Gody scores Fo'ty (trademark), then they can't beat us period.  Plus they might get taken down by a #5 Marquette, who I am pretty sure we have figured out.

You're right though - if you make it to the semis in the BE, your gonna have to play a pretty good team no matter what.

Don't forget
Guys, let's not lose focus.  UofL has locked up a spot in the tournament and likely a worst-case #4 seed.  I think they still have a shot at a #1 seed and a 4-0 stretch vs. G-Town, Pitt, UConn and G-Town (again) wouldn't hurt their chances.  UofL would be 28-6 at that point.  Washington's 2005 team (the worst #1 seed ever in my opinion) was 28-5 and only had wins over 2 ranked teams (#6 AZ twice).

In short, I'd like to play the best team possible all 3 rounds.

Don't see a #1
Too many heavy hitters this year.  Memphis won't lose another game, UNC has 2 losses, Tenn has 3 losses and a win over Memphis, Texas has beaten everyone in the top 8, UCLA, Kansas, Duke...

In '05 it was Illinois, UNC, an OK Duke and a bunch of also rans.  Washington got it by default.

I can't see a 6-loss UofL jumping into a #1 seed under any circumstances, despite the late run.  Unless the NCAA heavily discounts the time without Padgett, I see us at #2 even if we run the table.

Since I am going to the Big East tourney I'd like to see whatever gives UofL the best chance of hanging around until the finals.  Though the 3 game stretch you describe would be great to watch!
