Padgett Sent Down

When the baseball Hall Of Famer, then rookie, Brooks Robinson first attended spring training for the Orioles in the late 50's, a bunch of older veterans were standing around watching him take infield practice, nonchalantly gobbling up anything hit his way...he was so good, he didn't even have to dive after anything...he had a Hoover built into his glove.  Anyway, one of the guys, mouth half opened and staring, looked to his awestruck buddies and said about Brooks:
"It looks as though he was sent down from a higher league."

Long way to go, for my point, but that's the way it seems with Padgett.  David was sent down from a higher league.
Random observations:

Did Preston "The Suit" (I keep trying Frank) even play?  Did he get T'WIL's second hand flu?

I thought the dame (I think her name is Ms Roberts) who did the color commentary was well...what word am I looking for here...she was, um....she was...."Good."  That's it!  She was damn good.  She's done some of our other games and she's always good.

Our first half was close to perfect.

Great play by HRGTY on the long run out with Jerry when he bounced the ball off Mr Smith as they both fell out of bounds.

Right now we are a weak #3 in my opinion.

Great bounce pass to DC, who unfortunately wore his boxing gloves again and muffed it.  We've invested so much in this guy.  We always have to take his emotional temperature as the game goes on (is Derrick OK?  Is he brooding again?  Will he hustle tonight?).  As baseball manager Billy Martin once said about a malcontent:
"If I could buy him for what he's worth, and sell him for what he THINKS he's worth, I'd be a millionaire."  And when I see that baleful look on Derrick's face I can only think of the again defeated Sonny Liston, sitting on a stool in that right corner of that boxing ring in Lewiston,
Maine, wondering what the heck hit him.

OK, lets have a weekend.
