Big East Projections (Pomeroy)

Like Mike and "if things ended today", I can't help myself. So, updated best guess from Pomeroy predictions.

It's so tight for the 1-4 spots that inevitable surprises, like the one that happened and the one that almost happened yesterday, will make this very wrong in some way.  Of course, 5-12 are so good, the seeding probably doesn't much matter.

  1. Cincinnati (10-8)
  2. Syracuse (9-9)
   1) UConn (15-3)
  1. Marquette (13-5)
  2. Providence (5-11)
   4) Notre Dame (14-4)
  1. Pitt (11-7)
  2. Seton Hall (8-10)
   2) Georgetown (14-4)
  1. West Virginia (12-6)
  2. Villanova (6-12)
   3) Louisville (14-4)

Out: DePaul, St. John's, South Florida, Rutgers

number 3
Why would Georgetown be number 2 and us number 3?

I think this assumes
they beat us in the last game of the season, in which case the tiebreaker becomes who had the better record against Connecticut. They beat the Huskies, we did not.

Exactly
Georgetown, Notre Dame, us all 14-4 (with us losing to Georgetown in the rematch).  "Miniconference" has us and Georgetown 2-1, Notre Dame 0-2.  So Notre Dame 4th.  Then between us and Georgetown we start comparing records against the top - UConn.  Georgetown won, we lost.

Again, won't take much to scramble this all up.

Damn
But dems all like numbers and stuff.

Actually, I think this is what I would probably predict for spots 1-4 myself. Perhaps there is a possibility that math and Card Chronicle can coexist after all.

Minor changes in the middle ...
Pitt drops to 9th:
  1. Syracuse (9-9)
  2. Pitt (9-9)
   1. UConn (15-3)
  1. Marquette (13-5)
  2. Providence (5-11)
   4. Notre Dame (14-4)
  1. Cincy (10-8)
  2. Seton Hall (8-10)
   2. Georgetown (14-4)
  1. West Virginia (12-6)
  2. Villanova (6-12)
   3. Louisville (14-4)

Out: DePaul (5-13) , St. John's (4-14), South Florida (4-14) , Rutgers (2-16)

Amazingly, the Big East has seven teams in Pomeroy's top 26:

8 UofL
10 Marquette
11 Georgetown
17 West Virginia
21 UConn
22 Notre Dame
26 Pitt
