Butler/UWM Dragging
Not looking good for the start of our game. Worst part about playing the second game.

Son of a bitch
Blow me Ricky Franklin.

by Mike Rutherford on Feb 12, 2008 9:06 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Any updates?
Dont have a radio, so dont know how to get the game until UWM and Butler is done with OT.

by adamcards on Feb 12, 2008 9:11 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

you have got to be kidding me
we have to sit here and watch an overrated Butler team play "pumped up to play the big, ranked team" UW-Milwaukee for another 5 minutes... this is bullshit in its finest form

by DoctorsofDunk1980 on Feb 12, 2008 9:10 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Game is played in Chicago...
Sounds like a White Sox broadcast

by adamcards on Feb 12, 2008 9:16 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Awesomeness
Much appreciated as these refs decide to watch sitcom reruns.

by adamcards on Feb 12, 2008 9:18 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Seriously
There wasn't even a dispute, but they've got to check video to see if a second ran off.

Announcer Homerism
This guy is worse than Tom Leach

by adamcards on Feb 12, 2008 9:20 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

If they were losing
I'd be awfully suspicious about the fact that I wasn't able to watch it.

Butler's Coach
Is Butler's Coach actually a player?  Fraternity Boy?  Young Republican?

by Noonway on Feb 12, 2008 9:16 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

This is a joke
Friggin' Depaul.

(This is the one game I get to be cocky all year so I'm gonna get my fill).

by Mike Rutherford on Feb 12, 2008 9:18 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Take notes youngin'
Padgett all over Mac Koshwal.

14-5.

by Mike Rutherford on Feb 12, 2008 9:19 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

These guys are hilarious
It sounds like a UK game.

DRAELON BURNS TAKES AN OPEN THREE!!!!!! back rim.

Padgett with the ball. Pass to Smith!!...he makes

Thank god this game is finally over
I cannot take ten more seconds of this guy.  Back to the other room in front of an actual TV.

Greatly appreciate the link.

UWM needs to
learn how to concede defeat. If they foul again, I'm going to haze their coach at his next pledge function.

Will Scott?
Pitino has to know that we don't have visual yet.

by Mike Rutherford on Feb 12, 2008 9:22 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

ha
Ha, Mike... I was thinking the exact same thing

by Noonway on Feb 12, 2008 9:23 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

And Depaul
promptly goes a 3-0 run.

by Mike Rutherford on Feb 12, 2008 9:23 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I've got both....
the ESPN.com and CBSsportline gamecasts up and they're not the same haha.... one has T-Will with different amount of points than the other, but they will have to do

by sam34gtr on Feb 12, 2008 9:23 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Wow
These Depaul broadcast guys are better than advertised. Thank God, here comes the visual.

by mikemac on Feb 12, 2008 9:24 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

And the first quote we get from the ESPNU colorguy
"Terrence Williams, who is an excellent three-point shooter."

Should be a fun night.

by Mike Rutherford on Feb 12, 2008 9:25 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Who are these announcers?
Sounds like Gus Johnson, Jr. and Senator Ted Kennedy.

Also, DePaul just shoots 3s? that's kinda their thing?

by CardsFan922 on Feb 12, 2008 9:27 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Will Scott...two quick fouls
He's the Terrance Butler of basketball.  He must be dominant in practice.

by CardsFan922 on Feb 12, 2008 9:28 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I'm not positive
But I'm pretty sure that's me playing defense for Depaul right now.

by Mike Rutherford on Feb 12, 2008 9:29 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I'm pulling a dual channel DVR review, so
here's your UK update:

Vandy 23 - UK 6

Vandy is making it look easy, and the big white guy is busting Pat Pat's defense pretty well.  Basically, there's been way too much Coury and Stevenson for UK to have a chance.

by 83fan on Feb 12, 2008 9:31 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Even on ESPNU..
....and its terrrrrible feed, UL looks better than UK in HD.

6 points through 12 minutes! Like a 6th grade girls team!

by CardsFan922 on Feb 12, 2008 9:34 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, but we got the announcing
team from that same 6th grade girls team.  These guys suck.

by 83fan on Feb 12, 2008 9:42 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Wearing tuxedos?
What does that mean?

by CardsFan922 on Feb 12, 2008 9:32 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Jerry Wainwright
If you look like this guy then you should know at the beginning of your career that you have no chance to become a big-time college coach. I mean, just try and picture that guy in the montage before a Final Four game.

by Mike Rutherford on Feb 12, 2008 9:33 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

This is eerily like
the Seton Hall game as far as the way we're getting lazy on defense simply because our opponents are. Need David back in.

by Mike Rutherford on Feb 12, 2008 9:35 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Thanks
for that completely worthless report Sarah.

by Mike Rutherford on Feb 12, 2008 9:37 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

How do they ever expect us to take ESPNU seriously
Melissa Knowles and now Sarah Kustok, miserable sideline/courtside reporters.

No HD feed.

Studdering and uneducated announcers to boot.

by adamcards on Feb 12, 2008 9:43 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

indeed...
I rarely have a problem with announcers, unlike most people it seems, but WOW is this crew AWFUL. They could at least try to sound like they want to be there.

Unfortunately, the radio is about 5 seconds ahead (I thought it's usually more like 5-7 seconds behind?) of the TV. It's just too annoying to hear something I'll see happen in 5 seconds, I had to turn off the radio.

I was pissed it was delayed, then to have this pathetic excuse for a crew just made it worse.

by cmb on Feb 12, 2008 10:02 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Bad series for Jerry...
....misses 3, gets blocked on a layup by a guy who doesn't jump, and then fouls on a silly reach in.

Hopefully they skip over that in the film session.

by CardsFan922 on Feb 12, 2008 9:37 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

The bad thing about this game
is that it is too easy.  We are getting lazy.

by 83fan on Feb 12, 2008 9:40 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

But
At least we're not complaining that we're down 28-6 with six minutes to play in the first half.

Poor Patrick.

by Mike Rutherford on Feb 12, 2008 9:41 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Announcers...
...gotta hand it to ESPNU....the "give two random dudes off the street and a blonde chick some microphones" plan is really working to perfection.

Seriously, is this like the L team announcers? Are there any worse announcing teams for ESPN, and if so, what game are they doing?

Also, an update from Nashville -- its Vandy 28, UK 6....with 6 minutes to go in the 1st half.  That's correct -- 6 points.

Think this is the right time to check catspause?

by CardsFan922 on Feb 12, 2008 9:41 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Most of the funny posts come post-game
but you do risk the possibility of a come back.

by 83fan on Feb 12, 2008 9:44 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Okay, now it's 37-8
You might want to check in at half time.

Knowles...

WOOOOO
DC and DP in together!!!!!!

Since Knowles gets so much playing time now, is the "DC and DP together" the bilal powell of the basketball season?

Bad
Possessions are every bit as valuable against Depaul as they are against Georgetown.

by Mike Rutherford on Feb 12, 2008 9:52 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

did i hear it correctly?
i believe the announcer said we gave away some games early, like when we had vandy down by 17 then they came back...

by DoctorsofDunk1980 on Feb 12, 2008 9:54 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I think he said..
...we were up 17 on Vandy and then lost in overtime.

Maybe someone had a game like that this year, but it certainly wasn't us.

by CardsFan922 on Feb 12, 2008 9:56 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

thanks
I knew i heard something like that

by DoctorsofDunk1980 on Feb 12, 2008 10:02 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Whoever said...
...that we were playing bad because it is too easy is right.

It's like, we play our game, we get up by ~15, then we just kinda let up, mess around, the other team starts nailing threes and running, all of a sudden its a 6 point lead.

Feels like Seton Hall, although Depaul is much worse than Seton Hall. But they are certainly making 3s from all over the floor.

Also, Quinn1979 points out live from the game that we are getting creamed when DC is in...it looks like he's trying so hard to score and get the ball.  My guess is that his minutes are down, he feels like he has to touch the ball every second he's in because he's about to get taken out.

by CardsFan922 on Feb 12, 2008 9:55 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, DC is regressing, trying tro hard to bull
in and score

and he has a nice little jumper

I was thinking Seton Hall too

Stop the 3--PLEASE!

by frankpos on Feb 12, 2008 9:58 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

It does have that SH feel, but it seems
we don't have our heads up our ass as badly as we did that game.  We aren't playing dumb, just sloppy.  I sort of wonder if DC and Will Scott aren't going to play more this game so that we don't have the starters devolving into sloppiness too much.

by 83fan on Feb 12, 2008 9:58 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I'm hoping for 82-20 at the end myself
then at least we have something memorable from this evening

by frankpos on Feb 12, 2008 10:02 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Hey, don't be hating on UK ...
They actually have 11 points.

by 83fan on Feb 12, 2008 10:04 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

The Real UK update
The announcers are mocking UK by betting on whether Ashley Judd will show up for the second half as announced.  I guess it's hard to keep a 30-point game interesting.

As for our crew, they can't make an 8-point game interesting.

by 83fan on Feb 12, 2008 10:03 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Ashley Judd showed up.
Kudos for her.

UK is now down by 35.

Now 38.

Kudos for Billy G.

Here comes the Depaul run..
....we get up 19, looks so easy....

Is there a worse team with a 15-point lead?
And just remember how much you hated what UK got away with when Pitino was there.  I whined about the no-calls all season long.  I love 'em now.

by 83fan on Feb 12, 2008 10:22 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

ARRRGH
The time-out call from the bench with 9.5 seconds on the 10-second count.

I think Bucky Waters should do all our games...or just follow me around at something I'm decent at (when I figure that out) and just say, "wow" "ahh" and "look at that!" appreciatively.

by CardsFan922 on Feb 12, 2008 10:25 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Sosa
I wish he would have missed that lay-up for the sake of our future.

by Mike Rutherford on Feb 12, 2008 10:28 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

He's trying hard...
....to foul out between the under 12 and 8 timeouts.

In 5 years, when DC is either an NBA all star or just trying to make it on an European club, we'll all look back at these 2 years with so much regret.

by Mike Rutherford on Feb 12, 2008 10:39 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Luckily, DePaul is matching us brick for brick, except they keep getting fouled.

Bucky Waters...
...LOUISVILLE IS IN A ZONE NOW.

by CardsFan922 on Feb 12, 2008 10:43 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Mike, when you review...
...the game for your post-game write-up, see if there is any evidence in the first 30 minutes of game time that Bucky Waters recognized that we were in a zone defense.

Because the way he EXCLAIMED it (even cutting off gus jr.) I think he had just realized it that we were playing 2-3.

does anyone else think
that Depaul's coach Wainright looks like Droopy Dog?

by pianoman on Feb 12, 2008 10:56 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

In the preview...
..Mike described him thusly:

"Tucker's offensive skill set will make him valuable in a game like tonight's, but he's recently seen his playing time dwindle as Jerry Wainwright (who, again, looks like a combination of a cartoon character and a car salesman)..."

by CardsFan922 on Feb 12, 2008 10:59 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

And our trend
of finishing games with scores that would have looked considerably more impressive with one more made basket continues.

by Mike Rutherford on Feb 12, 2008 11:00 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Maybe this partially explains the snub in the poll
If coaches are not paying attention and only see box scores, several games (WVU, St. John's, at UK, and at Marquette) do not look as impressive as they really were.

by adamcards on Feb 12, 2008 11:34 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Very happy with 75% of this game
but only 1% of the mindless chatter from the ESPNU wankers. Where in the hell do they find these announcers anyway? I'm also pleased that my youngster presided over another victory tonight.

Have I mentioned lately that I love David Padgett? Or Preston Knowles?

Finally, WTF happened to UK? Looks like they were Vandy's bitch tonight. Oh, and the SEC blows.

We will all miss T Will
quote machine

AP: Williams also grabbed eight rebounds and to say he fed off Padgett would be an understatement.

"How much do people eat off plates?" Williams wondered. "We feed off him a lot because he's our point-center, our point-forward, our point-shooting guard. He's everything because he rebounds the ball, he passes the ball, he leads us. He could lead us out of the closet, lead us to the ocean. He's just our everything."
