Memphis (State?) football matchup

A hole in UofL's football schedule in '08?  How 'bout filling it with...I don't know...some C-USA team or something.  Just don't make us play Memphis in basketball.  No really, I'm serious.  If UofL ends up on the #4/#5 line in the same region as #1 Memphis I am going to get very nervous.  But, back to football...

I like it, Mr. Jurich.  If we can't beat Kentucky, surely we can't lose to Memphis.  Right?

Somewhere, Marty Lowe just flinched.

That's going to be a tough rivalry game
every year-- was he looking for a breather by scheduling Memphis??

Meh
I hate Memphis St. as much as the next rationale Cards fan (who doesn't giggle every time they see Darius Washington?), but I think their football team has taken a few steps back since 2004, while ours has taken a few steps forward (and then a big leap back in 2007).  Say what you will about KRAG, but he has proven time and again that he can be mostly competitive with CUSA teams, even beating a few of them.

But yes, Memphis St. always does play us close, but there's only a handful of RS Sr.'s from the '04 team who remember that game (Council..Wood...Axson?) and no one from the '03 team (except Sergio Spencer, who was on his 2nd medical redshirt in 2003) who remember the Syracuse home win streak book-end game.

Thanks Phauz -- now I'm depressed about football again! Stupid KRAG.

Keith Lee?
Wow, and Elliott Perry is a freshman (tube socks, remember the tube socks?)  And how did he end up playing longer in the NBA than LA Smith?

Anyway, glad to see them back on the schedule.  Damn the "power" teams that won't play us.  I'd rather play a rival any day.

Didn't Memphis play in a bowl last year?

Yes, but they lost six games
I really want to throw this cool rock that I just found, but I'm afraid it could do some damage to my new age house that's made entirely of glass.

That's right! (Goggles)
I remembered that after typing the first post.  Anyone remember the Lorenzen Wright/Michael Wilson teams?  They beat us in the tourney one year when I think they were in the Great Midwest.  The Michael Wilson guy had like a 40 inch vertical. I never saw Anfernee Hardaway play for them because they switched conferences.  That's why I don't feel that bad about leaving them out of the Big East.
