'Sign Out' the Wildcats

In an effort to help develop student spirit in Freedom Hall, the University of Louisville athletic department and Student Government Association have worked together to develop the first ever 'Sign Out', in which all students are encouraged to bring a spirited or creative sign to the Jan. 4th game.

This will be the first of many themes, but is especially crucial as it is the final Bluegrass Blowout in Freedom Hall. The decision of the theme was made off of the past successes of College Gamedays, the ease of the theme as students come back to campus and the understanding that anyone carrying a sign automatically increases their spirit level by a minimum of 14.6% (Duke, 1999).

A partnership has been developed with Gray's Bookstore allowing students to come into the store with a student ID and receive up to 4 free poster boards prior to the game.

The two students who create the 'most spirited' and 'most creative signs' will be taken on the floor at halftime and given a half-court shot to win free tuition in the Spring Semester. This fiscal burden has been picked up by the athletic department.

Now I come to CC Nation with the understanding that most of the readership is not students, but I hope you are still willing to have a little fun and support this effort. I will be bringing together a team of about 20 students prior to the game to make around 100 signs to ensure this event is a success. I have a number of signs prepared, but need to tap into everyones creative juices.

Please, run wild and give me your best sign ideas. Please keep them PG-13 and I will do my best to get it transplanted into the 'student section'.

The "Sign Out" is a good idea

But even if Athletics or someone wanted to print up a bunch of the same sign for a different game I think it would be a neat effect.

Great Idea

…but I see this backfiring. You don’t beg a generation raised on the Internet to bring humorous signs. I’m putting 6:1 odds we’ll see a multi-sign penis or something equally as graphic/stupid.

I can’t wait. This should make fantastic YouTubeage.

ESPN would put anything obcene on camera – I know our fan base and it won’t be NASTY but I hope it will be ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so funny. Go CARDS!

Can i have permission to use the “Michael Porter will never be my Agriculture Commissioner” or is that a sign you are already making?

Thanks for the ideas...Still need more

For those that are bored at work on this pointless Friday, please keep on coming up with ideas. We go to production on Saturday, and I want to make sure we have plenty of ammunition to work with.

By the way, my buddies made a T-Will, T-Will Rock You sign my freshmen year for the UConn game, but it will make a comeback.

I somehow missed this post

and only received the email from UofL today, the day before the game, and after Greys was closed. Even though I look at CC everyday, hopefully initiatives like this will be disseminated to students more than 24 hours before the game. It would have been nice to know Greys was giving out free posterboards before today.

Gray's is open tomorrow at 10 am

I have used numerous means to disseminate the information, the athletic department had difficulty getting out that e-mail because campus has been literally shut down the past week.

I apologize and hope you can have a sign at the game! (I just got done making 80 of them tonight)

no worries

i figured it was UofL dropping the ball. Like you said, this place has been a ghost town and you can’t get them to do anything (like maybe process our loans. classes start for some of us tomorrow). I’m heading out right now to make my sign. I’ll pay more attention to a reliable source like CC in the future rather than wait on UofL.
