Did I miss the memo?

Since when is U of L "Big Red"?  Yesterday at the game it sounded like the guy cheerleaders were chanting Go Big Red........when did we become Big Red??? Hate it , Hate it, Hate it.  Also, for the record, I think the Pep Band sounds better than ever.  I love Patrick Hughes but I'm sorry he is making an issue out of the Pep Band being under the Athletic Dept rather than the Music School.  Don't read me wrong, I get his point (well taken) but I have to say that the band sounded and looked better yesterday than they have for a while.....anyhoo, BOO Big Red - let's just go CARDS !!!!  Let's stick with our traditional C  -  A  -  R  -  D  - S  go CARDS go.

Big Red sounds like an annoying oversized stepchild in my book.

As for the band, I agree they sound more legitimate this year than in recent years. But what I don’t really understand is the pseudo hockey jerseys that they’re sporting this year. Whatever happened to a simple red/white thick striped rugby shirt and a pair of Aviator sunglasses.

So to sum it up:

Big Red…Bad
Hockey playing band members…Bad
Ruby playing band members…Good

Big Red soda is simply delightful

But as a new name for the Cards not so much. I’m with you on this, Linda.

You guys probably missed the most important thing of all

Jenni Casper, a native of Louisville who attended Mercy Academy, and played volleyball for UK from 2003-2006, passed away yesterday, the result of a car accident very early Saturday am.

She is a Louisville native

And I am sure she has many family and friends in the community. My heartfelt feelings and prayers to all. I truly hate to see these children die in any shape or form.

the band

The band sounds good but I don’t like seeing folks playing whose children are old enough to go to UofL. The basketball pep band should be current UofL students, not community members. It’s fine to allow an adult/community/alumni band for other sports. It’s going to look pretty stupid on national TV.

I hate Big Red

I also think the band sounds pretty bad. They are regularly flubbing notes. I’m sure there’s a more technical term, but I’m not a musician. It’s the trumpet equivalent of someone’s voice cracking.

Also, It’s not just Patrick Henry Hughes that isn’t in this band, it’s the entire school of music. We need students in this band with a students passion, right now it’s pretty lame.
