VMI

is there really anything else to say except for way to go VMI!

I Love it... UK LOOKED REALLY good in exhibitions and EVEN had me thinking they could be a scary surprise... but then tonights loss at home to VMI showed that they still have sevedal rungs on the ladder to climb out from being mediocre.

Well, I donh't think UK will lose more than 10 games and do believe they will be no less than an 8 seed in tourney... I hope they lose more and more frequrnetly...

I don't mind to bash the cats... it is what I love!

Go VMI!

Stay healthy Cards!

It sucks

Being a UL football fan and a KY basketball fan, you can say I had a crappy Saturday morning. I did not get to see the UK game but I did get to see us lose in football. Even as a UK basketball fan I still hope the Cards do well except when they play UK of course. I like for my hometown city as well as state to look good on the national stage. Hopefully we worked out the kinks in the first game and can somehow upset UNC next weekend.

Sorry to say Mandingo

You will never in any shape or form find a UL fan rooting for UK athletics…at least on this blog.

I was actually cheering for UL to beat Cinci last night just for the state of Ky. There are some around that feel that way,,,but not here. I have been around a long time and lifelong resident of Ky and I support all the college teams in Ky as long as not playing UK.

Look forward to your comments at ASOB this basketball season…get back to the USA safely and thank you and yours for your service.

LOL

While cheering on behalf of the “state of Ky” is certainly not egregious, rooting for UL FB and UK BB over the FB and BB teams of each respective rival school is like simultaneously rooting for the US Marine Corps and the Israeli Air Force. I’m guessing you’re a New York Knicks and New England Patriots fan too, right? …Michigan FB and Ohio State BB?

Actually No

True I do watch the NBA and NFL but no I am not a fan of any team except UL football and UK basketball. Now if Kentucky had a professional team sure I would be a fan. You do not see me on UL basketball threads on SBN saying GO CARDS beat KY, nor do you see me cheering for UK football. Why is this so hard to believe if I have no affiliation with either school besides the schools being in Louisville my hometown or Kentucky? I just enjoyed Cardinal football more I had season tickets for a year before I joined the service. Went to football games at the Old Cardinal Stadium at the fairgrounds, I was there for the unfortunate Ron Cooper years, had front row seats at the Orange Bowl in ’07, and every time I come home on leave during football season I always go to a game. Have I jumped ship in the past two seasons because UK beat us in football? Please I am a hardcore Louisville Football fan, probably more so than those that like them in basketball too. As far as UK basketball is concerned when I was a little kid most of my family was UK basketball fans and that is it, football never mattered to them at least not until recently. So you can say I pretty much watched UK basketball games my entire childhood, and fell in love with the tradition as well as the teams. Really nothing hard to believe about it unless you are just that thick headed you can not see they are to totally sepearte sporting events. I know where my allegiances’ lay.

Just Thick Hair

Up until your allegiance to UK BB, we actually have a lot in common. I remember going to scrimmages when Schnelly was the coach & seeing FB games in the old Redbirds stadium, I remember watching the news on WHAS-11 when Ron Cooper finally got fired, I only had 2nd row seats at the Orange Bowl—but first row at the Gator Bowl!—and we both wear ABUs to work.
It’s just that one small fact that you root for UK BB as much as UL FB that I can never empathize with, no matter what your childhood was like (I have similar back stories—family loves UK BB, seen UK play at Rupp several times, I’m a UK alum, etc…)…but I respect your opinion and I’ll try not to give you too much crap for it on this blog…agree to disagree?

I heard that as of today, the letter “V” has been taken out of all text books on UK’s campus…

As much as you Card fans...

Bash UK , I will never do the same to UL. And my extended thanks to all of you for supporting college sports in our great state.

I've thought many things about UK fans in my life

But you’re the first one I’ve ever thought was smug.

by Dais on Nov 17, 2008 1:57 PM EST up reply actions

That's interesting

I’ve never thought about it but I guess it’s true. My experience has been that UofL fans tend to think they’re better than UK fans. I didn’t care enough about either team when UK won their last championship, and I bet it was a different story then. It feels like (in general) UK fans think they’re entitled, but UofL fans think they’re elite.

I’m trying to use careful language here so I don’t start a war.

by Dais on Nov 17, 2008 4:33 PM EST up reply actions

Why do you all .....

even bother with this – is debating a UK fan worth any minutes off of your life clock? Please.

by Linda on Nov 18, 2008 2:47 PM EST up reply actions

Whatever your opinion of me...

You don’t know me as a person or a UK fan. But I don’t get any enjoyment in seeing either team’s losses or wins unless we are against one another and that is the facts!
And if UK bests UL in either basketball or football, you will not see me anywhere here or elsewhere crowing about it. I am too middle aged for all that crap!

by kykat51 on Nov 17, 2008 2:12 PM EST reply actions

Well, maybe that's my problem

I’m a recent graduate. We’ll see if I temper with age.

by Dais on Nov 17, 2008 2:28 PM EST reply actions

Perhaps you will...

I have a 15 year old grandson that loves UL even though his dad, my son, is UK fan. Sometimes one has to be for both in certain situations and that is where I am and so is my son. And Yes….through the years perhaps you will have a milder attitude towards UK fans. There are some nice ones out there in the blogosphere. :)…but please don’t base it on those horrible comments on the CJ or some other unnamed message boards. I love the SBN blogs because most members are intelligent and can have commentary w/o the bashing. Just a thought. Have a nice day!

Just don't be whipping out any more "act like a Christian" remarks like

you did in responding to Louisville Lisa a while back

and you won’t get too much flak from the under age 50 Card fans.

The over age 50 Card fans… sorry, we know too much : – )

My Daughter

Was born in Louisiana because I am stationed there but I will be damned If I see her grow up into an LSU fan. She is 3 1/2 so I bought her a UK cheerleader outfit for Halloween. I know the Cards fans on here will tell me it was because she was wearing UK LOL, but when her mother put it on her for Halloween to go to the daycare in she freaked out. She really wanted to go as Cinderella. The pictures my wife sent me via email were halarious because she was crying being forced to wear it.

Cute story

About your young daughter. I don’t blame her at all, I probably wanted to be Cinderella at that age too.
Being forced?…I bet Mommy told her to wear for Daddy :-)

amen Frank....

for the life of me, I can’t understand why U of K fans even want to come over to our Cardinal blog albeit they certainly can if they want to….I just don’t get it. As someone who bleeds Cardinal Red I just don’t have any desire to EVER visit a U of K blog – unless we are playing them, I guess I’m truly not interested nor do I care what they do. Different strokes for different folks I guess. As always, go CARDS !!!! Sure is nice having both Men and Women’s BB in the top 10 – yeah baby!

Linda

Read my post above about my grandson. That is why I visit here so I can have conversation with him re UL athketics. Get it? It’s a thing I do for me and my grandson to have something in common in sports. He plays football, basketball, and baseball at TCHS. When kids are 15 going on 16, it is sometimes hard to find a common interest especially with a grandchild. Understand me now?

I am almost 58, come January, and I don’t remember saying anything to Lisa in anyway bad. In fact I do remember her taking a stance on some of the UK bloggers here in that we never bashed UL and that we were welcome as long as we did not. Am I wrong in that assumption?

I am in the over age 50 UK fans and I have no contempt towards anyone as life is too short.

uk fans

HATE cards fans… and Card fans HATE UK fans…

not all but majority…

I’m not saying that “we” wouldn’t give you a nickel at McDonald’s if you were 5 cents short… I’m just saying we hate your team and you hate ours…

that the fun part in rivalries…

look at unc-duke… they hate each other…

its not that we aren’t allowed to like a select few of the opposing teams fans… i mean c’mon that’s not possible…

hell, i made the mistake and proposed to a UK fans…

but i still love her… my best buddy is a cat fan… SHOOT another bad one…

still either way… rivalries have a point of hate to them and at some point you look at the other guy and think…

“you’re not all bad… but your choice of team was a mistake you mortard”!

Exactly, so not hate, just dislike and we can all be Friends in the state of KY. Right? I am finished with this thread as I think I got my point across with my grandson being a Card fan.
