Open Thread: Louisville vs. Cincinnati

Cincinnati Bearcats at Louisville Cardinals, Nov 14, 2008 8:00 PM EST

If last week taught us anything, it's that the time for getting cute with talismans has come and gone. If it taught us anything else, it's that 8-year-olds suck.

Krag the Keg!

Even though we know Krag would never drink from a keg…

I'm staying home

It’s not a message to Jurich, I just don’t want to sit out in the rain. I still want Kragthorpe out, win or lose.

Staying home...

….caught at a meeting in Lexington, got home late, wife says its going to rain. Oh well, will cheer just as loud from the couch.

Yup, that was easy for UC..

…although they sure didn’t run the ball well.

If I’m UC I throw the ball pretty much the rest of the night.

WILDCARD FORMATION

What a terrible call on 3rd and 3.

by CardsFan922 on Nov 14, 2008 8:18 PM EST reply actions

Bailed out there

Terrible call on 1st down and 3rd down….and terrible call on 4th down, there was no way Bolen was getting a 1st down there.

I don’t know if I can take another year + 2.8 games of this.

by KyCubsFan on Nov 14, 2008 8:34 PM EST reply actions

There you go play action!

Touchdown cards!

Only took 9 minutes and 17 plays to go 28 yards.

2 Big Plays

This looks like real football (multiple exlamation marks).

That's the first time...

…we’ve run that play action bomb to Doug all year, or at least the first time its been close to open. Love the play call, love the execution.

Pretty good first half...

…take away that first WR screen for a TD and we have this game well in hand. We certainly look a lot better this week, although Cinci is also playing pretty weird too.

by CardsFan922 on Nov 14, 2008 9:37 PM EST reply actions

I can't believe that play.....

didn’t we only need 6 yards for a first down? Why pass it like that??

by Linda on Nov 14, 2008 10:30 PM EST reply actions

Good job D

Now Alexander needs to run strong not tiptoe in the rain

by KyCubsFan on Nov 14, 2008 10:32 PM EST reply actions

dumass

bad kicker+ run+ run+ run+rain=missed opportunity

by KyCubsFan on Nov 14, 2008 10:58 PM EST reply actions

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Why is it becoming a yearly tradition that big east officials blow an outrageous call against us? THAT SPOT WAS BULLSHIT. i’m sorry. the rule is conclusive. indisputable. we’re talking about levels of proof. even if you think maybe that ball should have been spotted there, that’s not good enough. conclusive. horrible.

by jbrobe04 on Nov 14, 2008 11:21 PM EST reply actions

We were robbed....

I can’t believe where they spotted that ball – we were robbed. These @#$^& Official Reviews are a joke – that’s probably the game. @#$^&

by Linda on Nov 14, 2008 11:23 PM EST reply actions

bad review

the real problem was stop me if you’ve heard this before: bad tackling, dropped passes, and penalties

by KyCubsFan on Nov 14, 2008 11:32 PM EST reply actions

The spot was terrible....

…..the play call on 4th down was also terrible.

The whole second half was terrible.

I really hope Vic is not seriously hurt.

UK losing to VMI lead sportscenter so I am happy tonight.

AGREED

it wasn’t a well thought out or played 2nd half for the Cards. The guys played hard just a little lack of creativity and thought on the gameplan.

What was the deal with the coaches’ post game handshake, or lack thereof?

by JMC1 on Nov 14, 2008 11:56 PM EST reply actions

I have a friend close to the team

That told me that Krag and Cincy’s coach got into it before the game – a legitimate shouting match, and Krag wouldn’t shake his hand afterward.

by Dais on Nov 15, 2008 1:05 AM EST up reply actions

Was it that Krag wouldn’t shake Kelly’s hand or Kelly wouldn’t shake Krag’s hand?

by JMC1 on Nov 15, 2008 8:22 AM EST up reply actions

My friend is staff on UC's team

and he thought that Krag wouldn’t shake Kelly’s hand.

by Dais on Nov 15, 2008 5:34 PM EST up reply actions

wouldn't surprise me-- Kelly looked like he was just motioning in disgust at K

remember: Kelly ad the zinger of last last on K: "He was given the keys to the Cadillac , and he wrecked it.’

This from a guy who had proven himself in the lower ranks—and is now a hot commodity.

K, meanwhile, turned Tulsa around.. major stuff!

But…in mgmt circles it is well known… turnaround guys often are not good fits to handle well-functioning , high-flying divisions.

The respective strengths and needs don’t match up well…

by frankpos on Nov 15, 2008 9:21 PM EST up reply actions

Blown Call...

The sad thing is, is that even if the spot had not been overturned, it is pretty unlikely we would have been able to move the ball. Even if we had, there would have been some penalty to negate a huge play. First three game slide in 11 years.

by LankySteve on Nov 15, 2008 12:30 AM EST reply actions

Louisville vs. Cincinatti

First of all, when it is 3rd and 23 you don’t try and run the ball up the middle, especially if it didn’t work on 1st and 2nd down. That kept us (Louisville) out of field goal range. Second of all the Big East Official that called this game must be from Cincinnati. Everytime Louisville got a big gain the officials pulled out the old Holding call on the offencive line. And that call on where the ball should be spotted on that 3rd down was completely rediculous. Why don’t we go to the official review on every play to make sure the ball placement is right. And Finally the Head Coach for Cincinnati is a complete and udder A-Hole and I hope he realizes that the whole nation knows it. He looked like a crazy mad man down there on the sidelines. And to wave off the Coaches hand shake at the end of the game just shows what a peice of crap he really is.
