Go Cards.

I love not getting ESPN U

but really, perfect start according to gamecast. Is anderson any good?

Wow ESPNU

Vic’s a senior and Kragthorpe’s in his sixth year.

by Mike Rutherford on Nov 1, 2008 7:17 PM EDT reply actions

they're having some issues with names too

If I heard correctly, apparently our third string QB returned that last kickoff.

by cmb on Nov 1, 2008 7:45 PM EDT up reply actions

This drive...not so good

syracuse has only 6 sacks all yr…

by frankpos on Nov 1, 2008 7:29 PM EDT reply actions

whats up with the penalties?

i cant see whats going on. are we playing dumb or bs calls?

by Ben Go CARDS on Nov 1, 2008 7:58 PM EDT reply actions

I'm gonna go ahead and say

Vic needs to get the ball more. He’s already got 73 yards and will help open up the passing game (or take over the game himself)

by Ben Go CARDS on Nov 1, 2008 8:10 PM EDT reply actions

I feel sick....

K doesn’t have them ready – our defense looks blah……………………

by Linda on Nov 1, 2008 8:14 PM EDT reply actions

A score here

And the drinking increases drastically.

by Mike Rutherford on Nov 1, 2008 8:14 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah

They’re rotating players wearing that number every game for the rest of the season.

by Dais on Nov 1, 2008 8:22 PM EDT up reply actions

yes...

heard it on K’s show.

by Linda on Nov 1, 2008 8:15 PM EDT reply actions

where is our..

pass rush. I can’t believe this is the same team who played USF.

by Linda on Nov 1, 2008 8:17 PM EDT reply actions

and syracuse scores again

why do we make stars out of syracuse every year?

by frankpos on Nov 1, 2008 8:22 PM EDT reply actions

does anyone know if its possible to listen to the game online free?

i am going to remain optimistic and say the second half should put smiles on our faces and id like to hear it

by Ben Go CARDS on Nov 1, 2008 8:25 PM EDT reply actions

I’ve been looking everywhere…no luck.

by cardkevin on Nov 1, 2008 8:30 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah

i’ve been trying yo find anything. it’s killing me not being able to watch it or listen to it.

by Ben Go CARDS on Nov 1, 2008 8:31 PM EDT up reply actions

We'd better come out smoking after halftime

or we’re in big trouble. We’ve already allowed them to think they can win it.

by rickinva on Nov 1, 2008 8:34 PM EDT reply actions

Allowed them to think?

They can beat us. We are handing it to them.

Go Cards!

by Red Rage on Nov 1, 2008 8:36 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah

that was kinda my point.

by rickinva on Nov 1, 2008 8:50 PM EDT up reply actions

The holding call

was an absolute killer.

This is bad.

by Mike Rutherford on Nov 1, 2008 8:39 PM EDT reply actions

yeah

no one with more than one catch. Guy only has 5 yards. Vic leading receiver and rusher. we definitely need some halftime adjustments

by Ben Go CARDS on Nov 1, 2008 8:49 PM EDT up reply actions

The TV stickers are in memory of Terry Veleta

Veleta worked in the athletic department business office and spent football game days helping with sideline phones and headsets.

Update

for those of us who don’t have ESPNU or a radio handy?

by ziptnf on Nov 1, 2008 9:10 PM EDT reply actions

another penalty??

I think “also getting votes” went to their heads. they are just not in this game at all.

by rickinva on Nov 1, 2008 9:13 PM EDT reply actions

Our passing game is pathetic.

The only down field pass we can complete is to our RB.

by 83fan on Nov 1, 2008 9:18 PM EDT reply actions

our leading receivers right now are anderson and powel. anderson with 82 yards right now is very good, but running the ball is not going to help us come from behind. Hunter needs hit beaumont, guy, and chichester

by Ben Go CARDS on Nov 1, 2008 9:20 PM EDT reply actions

Coach K

Good grief. Did anyone else notice that during the time-out, the head coach uttered one, perhaps two words. Coach, it’s time to coach. Somebody please say something to get these guys at least a bit interested in playing.

Update per zip's request

21-7 Syracuse… but we’re threatening, 1st & goal on the 4

by rickinva on Nov 1, 2008 9:24 PM EDT reply actions

so let me get this straight...

the announcers have quoted poopthorpe several times as saying “we’re not a good team.”

so if i understand this correctly, krapcooper spends all week talking about how syracuse, 1-6 and with a head coach whom everyone’s admitted will be fired this year, is a great team, and then comes out and says that we’re NOT a great team.

way to motivate, steve.

by davidson07 on Nov 1, 2008 9:24 PM EDT reply actions

Actually

they’re quoting him as saying we’re not a GREAT team, we have to bring our A game every time.

by rickinva on Nov 1, 2008 9:28 PM EDT up reply actions

please punch this is in

by Ben Go CARDS on Nov 1, 2008 9:25 PM EDT reply actions

damn straight

very very solid drive. Again, cantwell throws no incompletions and this time spreads the ball around. 17 play drive taking almost 9 minutes. Hold syracuse now and hopefully they will start to fold like every other game so far this year.

by Ben Go CARDS on Nov 1, 2008 9:30 PM EDT up reply actions

The one bright light

is that Syracuse has been a bad 4th quarter team this year.

by 83fan on Nov 1, 2008 9:29 PM EDT reply actions

Bolen

Does anyone know why Brock’s not playing, or have I just missed him?

theoldman

by theoldman on Nov 1, 2008 9:30 PM EDT reply actions

Good question

He did look like he got hit head on early in the first quarter, but he walked off normally.

by 83fan on Nov 1, 2008 9:33 PM EDT up reply actions

To follow up on the 4th quarter thing

Syracuse has been outscored by at least 7 points in the 4th quarter every single game this year, even the game they won. They were up 8 on Pitt and gave up 18-0 in the 4th quarter (at home), and they were within 1 to WVU and were outscored by 10 in the 4th.

by 83fan on Nov 1, 2008 9:35 PM EDT reply actions

Good grief

Penalties and turnovers. We look awful. Even on the TD drive the sideline didn’t appear all that enthused. Of course, I’m a long way from Syracuse.

stuck at work with no outlet to this at all except you guys. an occasional detail or two if you get the chance would be great. don’t kill yourselves though.

by dingoville on Nov 1, 2008 9:50 PM EDT reply actions

21-14 with 10 minutes to go

UofL has the ball on its own 35, 1st and 10.

by 83fan on Nov 1, 2008 9:52 PM EDT reply actions

Oh My God, Troy!

That’s how you get beat.

theoldman

by theoldman on Nov 1, 2008 9:53 PM EDT reply actions

The drop

I’m hoping our defense isn’t entirely deflated by the dropped pass.

theoldman

by theoldman on Nov 1, 2008 9:57 PM EDT reply actions

For you guys stuck w/o info

Syracuse back runs 40 yards on a second and ten play.

theoldman

by theoldman on Nov 1, 2008 9:59 PM EDT reply actions

As Mike said...

Last week’s win won’t mean a thing if we blow this. And with Syracuse about to score, it looks bleak.

theoldman

by theoldman on Nov 1, 2008 10:01 PM EDT reply actions

unreal

at this point, i take solace in another close win against georgetown, and kentucky beating itself in a scrimmage.

by dingoville on Nov 1, 2008 10:03 PM EDT reply actions

for the second yr in a row...

they are 28 pts better than the spread as wespeak—last yr’s then record: 41

by frankpos on Nov 1, 2008 10:03 PM EDT reply actions

Well thank the stars...

it is about to be basketball season. What a disaster this is. And I notice Mike isn’t posting anymore; a bad sign for the liver I’m afraid.

break 'em up.

clearly a dynasty brewing in syracuse. kragthorpe’s head rolls for this one, i hope.

by dingoville on Nov 1, 2008 10:05 PM EDT reply actions

what the hell happeneded to our run defense?

you know, the one that gave up only 8 yards to a much better USF team?

by Ben Go CARDS on Nov 1, 2008 10:06 PM EDT reply actions

there is no heart in this team

hate to say it, but from the sideline to the field, hasn’t seemed like this matters at all when it really counted. No general on the field, and nothing on the sideline.

by dingoville on Nov 1, 2008 10:08 PM EDT reply actions

A score

Nice throw and I’m tempted to say Troy made up for his drop, but I can’t.

It's about 4:30 to go, I think.

Can’t see the TV from here.

3rd and 1 or 2

3 minutes to go.

This might be the ball game.

TO UofL

by 83fan on Nov 1, 2008 10:14 PM EDT reply actions

I'm afraid...

it’s game over. Syracuse first and ten with 2:30 or something to go. And unless they fumble — or put the ball on the turf as announcers and coaches like to say — we’re toast. Unfortunately, I’m afraid Krag won’t be toast, but if I had my way…

theoldman

by theoldman on Nov 1, 2008 10:17 PM EDT reply actions

Syracuse has to punt

4th and 2 with 49 seconds to go.

UofL has no time outs and will probably field the punt at the 20 or so

by 83fan on Nov 1, 2008 10:19 PM EDT reply actions

Great return by Beaumont

wasted when Cantwell throws a pick. Doug had returned the punt to about the 40, I think, and Cantwell threw the interception on 1st down. What a friggin’ disaster. We turned Syracuse into one of the great rushing teams of all time. Some senior back I’ve never heard of looked like the reincarnation of Jim Brown or Ernie Davis.

theoldman

by theoldman on Nov 1, 2008 10:22 PM EDT reply actions

When the ESPNU announcer team says,

“That’s got to sting,” you know there’s a problem.

by 83fan on Nov 1, 2008 10:24 PM EDT reply actions

Here's what I don't understand...

As a coach in Division One or whatever they call it these days, Kragthorpe has never lost fewer than 5 games in a season. Five games. So from whence commeth the reputation as a terrific head coach?

Of course we could also say that the well-thought-of Coach English’s defense didn’t set the world on fire tonight, either.

theoldman

by theoldman on Nov 1, 2008 10:25 PM EDT reply actions

so we were the 5th ranked team against the run

direct quote from homer announcer, who knows how bad syracuse stinks:

“That makes the second yr in a row that U of L has lost to Syracuse. That’s got to sting.”

by frankpos on Nov 1, 2008 10:26 PM EDT reply actions

Awful

I seriously can’t take this shit. Cuse hadn’t beat a D1 school all year. I am truly embarrased.

by tnowka on Nov 1, 2008 10:28 PM EDT reply actions

well...

i guess i’m still optimistic (maybe because i didn’t actually get to/have to see this game), but the way i see it, we have 2 more wins to get if we are to get to a bowl. I’m going to chalk this up to syracuse being our kryptonite and them knowing because they beat us last year, they can win against us. We still have pitt, cincy, wvu, and rutgers. I can see us winning 2 of those, maybe 3. I see english getting the d back on track and victor putting the offense on his shoulders.

Maybe i just hope, but i’m not going to let the shittyness of this game completely ruin the season. we can still go bowling, we can still make some noise in the BE

by Ben Go CARDS on Nov 1, 2008 10:30 PM EDT reply actions

i wanted to be hopeful after last wk

we should never have lost to this team—again

they hadn’t beaten any div I since buffalo …and us

they had been out-scored a bazillion to 13 in the 4th qtr, but not today

our lack of O made the D play more—and it was exposed as thin

by frankpos on Nov 1, 2008 10:39 PM EDT reply actions

Once again....

Koach’s preparation for this game far exceeded even my expectations….yeah, there’s enough blame to spread around but he IS the head coach – he didn’t have them ready. there goes our season. Today when I was out and about with my Cardinal flag flying I must have seen 15 U of L flags on passing cars in a short period of time – all he had to do was beat Syracuse to keep the buzz going. I hope he is gone at the end of this year. I can’t see them winning any of their remaining games. SOMEONE has absolutely ruined Hunter’s throwing motion – I’m sick. Go CARDS!

by Linda on Nov 1, 2008 11:28 PM EDT reply actions

Humiliating

Fuck spellcheck. This is an embaressment of staggering proportions. This wipes out the seasons gains. A record of 1-2, bottom of the heap, and 0-2 vs Syracuse. Jesus Lord. Can’t wait for Stevie’s latest pearl’s of wisdom. Blackout, here I come.

Go Cards!

by Red Rage on Nov 2, 2008 1:06 AM EDT reply actions

The worst thing about it is....

This is not a turning point for Syracuse. They are NOT a good football team. I think two years in a row with losses to Syracuse is grounds for being fired.
