Big East Power Poll: Week Six

This conference sucks.

Thanks for stamping the "official" tag on the memo, Pitt.

1. Pittsburgh (6) (4-1, 2-0)

Last Week: Beat South Florida (26-21)

This Week: Off

See above.

2. South Florida (1) (5-1, 0-1)

Last Week: Lost to Pittsburgh (26-21)

This Week: Off

So all that talk about maturity, past lessons and now being able to handle success, I guess that was, uh, that was pretty much just talk, wasn't it. Don't look at me like that when you know I'm right.

3. Connecticut (2) (5-1, 1-0)

Last Week: Lost to North Carolina (38-12)

This Week: Off

It's OK, we all pretty much knew anyway.

4. Cincinnati (4) (4-1, 0-0)

Last Week: Beat Marshall (33-10)

This Week: vs. Rutgers

Rutgers may be 1-4, but it's defense is still more than capable of making Chazz Anderson prove that he can be productive against secondaries that aren't Marshall's.

5. West Virginia (3) (3-2, 1-0)

Last Week: Beat Rutgers (24-17)

This Week: vs. Syracuse

And now it's time for the biggest test of the '07 Cardinals/'08 Mountaineers theory.

6. Louisville (5) (2-2, 0-1)

Last Week: Off

This Week: At Memphis

The good news? A loss to Memphis still won't be enough to drop you to seventh or eighth.

7. Rutgers (7) (1-4, 0-1)

Last Week: Lost to West Virginia (24-17)

This Week: At Cincinnati

It's going to be disgusting to watch, but the Scarlet Knights get No. 2 at Nippert on Saturday.

  8. Syracuse (8) (1-4, 0-1)

Last Week: Off

This Week: At West Virginia

I can only assume that Syracuse fans bore the brunt of as many lame "not losing this week" jokes during their bye weekend as I did when the Lions were off two weeks ago. And yes, they're only lame when you're not making them.

What do you mean we didn't lose last week?

We failed to fire Greg Robinson during a bye week. That counts as a loss.

Week 6, hmmm

I still don’t think we know much about the conference yet except that it is generally weak overall. Next two weeks or 3 weeks when everyone has lots of conference games under the belt we’ll have a better idea.
