Jeff Brohm.......
I heard from a very reliable source that Koach is overriding Jeff Brohm on offense.....has anyone else heard this? In a weird sort of way it made me feel a little better to think that because I found it hard to believe that somebody with Jeff's experience both on and off the field would call some of the bonehead plays we've seen on offense. I know that Alabama tried to hire Jeff away the past two years....he must know something but it isn't showing all that much on the field.

I have no inside information, but this would not surprise me. My sense is that Brohm would be more likely to use a two back set and smash to ball with the run game at Memphis using Tronzo and Bolen in the first half of the game. Krags (and his previous OC) seem to prefer a softer more finesse style of offense. If it is true that Krags is overriding Brohm then I would not be surprised to see Brohm take an OC position with another team next year. It’s also very likely that we will have Ron English for only one or two years and when he leaves I suspect many of the other defensive coaches would go with him. I’d hate to think that we might have to rebuild our coaching staff in the next year or so especially since I have very confidence in the coaching ability of the head coach.
This does make sense
If this “rumor” is true, I agree it makes lots of sense. Brohm was an intricate player in implementing the Petrino offense and a lot of the play calls go directly against many of the tenets of that system. No one who was that close to Petrino would make a lot of the playcalling mistakes that we have seen this year.
With that said, we’ve probably got to worry about Brohm leaving as much as we worry about English Leaving.
Well we all know that Auburn needs a new OC, and they did pretty well the last time they hired our OC away from us. I actually think I’d be fine if history repeated itself, to an extent.
If Brohm leaves, or is driven away by a meddling Kragthorpe, and goes to Auburn he will have the chance to display his skills on a national stage in the heart of the best football conference. Two years of success at Auburn will give him mad cred with recruits all across the south and give him the seasoning he will need to be a head coach.
And think about it…If Kragthorpe can’t work with a former QB who played under George Seifert, Mike Holmgren, Andy Reid, and Jon Gruden and coached with the finest offensive coach in all of college football then what do we think he’s going to do by himself for the next two years. Krags will flounder, and it’ll be tough for all of us, but in the ends we’ll get exactly what we want.
We’ll end up with a grizzled, seasoned coach, with legit credentials who is a home grown product. He will return home to a hero’s welcome and will be exactly what Jurich has been looking for…a quality coach who sees Louisville as a true destination school.
This scenario means that we tank for the next two years, or at least miss bowls in that timeframe, but the long term payoff would be worth it.
Dr Hustle needs to be Dr Shut It
Cause he’s ignorant or just plain lying. Brohm is the problem and has been. Petrino wanted to fire him. It’s obvious the Brohms and their buddies are out to get Kragthorpe fired.
Hmmm, I think I'll find out... : - )
BTW, good to see you posting again, Linda.
(We’re headed to Italy next yr—hope you and Tom enjoyed Tuscany.)
I WOULDN’T DOUBT IT.HE NEEDS TO BE A GUIDANCE COUNSELOR,NOT A COACH.HE SINGLE HANDEDLY TOUR US APART.I KNEW IT WAS WRONG WHEN HE CAME IN FAVORING TIGHTENDS AS THE BIGGEST PLAY MAKERS ON THE FIELD…WOW…SOMETIMES I FEEL SORRY FOR HIM DURING INTERVIEWS,BUT THEN HE COMES BACK OUT AND RUNS A STUPID SERIES OF PLAYS AND HE GOES BACK ON MY $H^T LIST…WE NEED HELP BAD ON THAT FIELD.WE WHERE JUST STARTING TO GET THE RESPECT THAT WE DESERVED…NOW IT’S BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD…THANKS KRAGS
hmmmm
Do you mean he has been overiding Brohm in the past couple of games or will start to override him? It seems to me the offense is pretty much on the same page as it was last year when Brohm was calling, so I just do not see it. I agree sometimes this year we have gotten way to conservative with play calling and have made some bone head plays. We sure do not need the coaches bailing on us now, especially after the athlete losses we took at the end of last year. It is going to be hard to bring this program back to where it needs to be and losing quality coaches is a step in the wrong direction.

Here's the Truth Ruth
SK and TJ don’t think that Brohm spends enough time breaking down film. Brohm spends more time trying to protect his rep than working on a game plan. I expect we will be saying adios to JB and will get a much more seasoned and dedicated OC. Expect the Brohms and their friends to start a sh%t storm.
I don't know where....
you got that information but I will certainly take it back to my source to see what he says…..it sounds plausible to me and would explain the knucklehead calls on offense to some extent. As much as I love Hunter Cantwell, SOMEONE or something is screwing up his game. I don’t think he has the pretty throwing motion he used to have….yeah I know he has a bum ankle but he doesn’t look as confident as he used to or as good on the field. Do you have any idea who the more seasoned and dedicated OC will be if what you’re saying is true?
Can’t say at this point. It will depend on who is available at the end of the season. Like English, it will probably be someone with a previous connection to kragthorpe. Love to get Malzahn.
I just....
looked him up on line and you are right – uh, I’d like to have him for our COACH -forget OC. ,o)
I wonder if that is True ? (hello from a new member)
When UL got the ball on the two after a great defensive stand at the beginning of the game, I said aloud, ‘okay Brohm, let’s see what you’ve learned.’ Then, a QB draw WITH a QB that has a high ankle sprain, my jaw dropped. I then exclaimed before the next play, “better not be Bolin off-tackle” – sure enough. OMG! I was so mad, I thew my cup down. The only time they ask Hunter to throw is on 3rd and long, I said.
Next thing you know, an interception taken in for a TD…. I would sure like to know for sure WHO to be fed up with! Whew, I needed this topic…. I feel better now….
I gotta say.
We look pretty consistant with the O we were running last year. We just had better talent. I am trying hard to look at Koach and get behind him, however, It just ain’t ringing true. i could care less who is coaching us as long as we can regain momentum.
With regards to Brohm, I have a very hard time thinking that Nick Saban would offer him a job if Petrino was ready to fire him.
Last year we had a different OC who was calling plays, but, frankly we had a very similar result. This year we are definately more unbalanced and If i were a DC i would stack the box with 8 men and say, go ahead and run your off tackle. Hell, we ought to run the wing T!!!!!!
Linda, keep us in the loop.
Everybody brings up Saban like he’s omniscient or something. How the hell would Saban know what was going on other than seeing the results of our games? One could only assume from the outside looking in that some of Petrino rubbed off on Brohm. Petrino and Saban don’t have a hot line to each other,. get real.
