Owen Schmitt

For the last three years I have disliked Owen Schmitt for the simple, but understandable I think, reason that every announcer seems to make it a point to discuss how he typifies what a college football player should be for at least two of the three hours during a West Virginia broadcast. I've sort of always believed that a guy that big who rocks a mohawk and repeatedly slams a helmet against his head because he shanked a punt has probably done some shit in his life that would make announcers speak of him with less awe if there were video evidence.

I'm going to go ahead and apologize to Schmitt right now (he's here twice a day), because his postgame interview was incredibly moving and he came off as a genuinely likable and well-spoken person. You have to respect a guy who has that much love for his teammates and the fans, program and state he represents. It's great to see someone that devoted go out a champion, so congratulations to him.
