Denny vs Rick
Has anyone noticed our lack of execution in crucial parts of any game? Rick just can't call a play and it work like Denny use to do. I really miss the ol' ally oop play out of a timeout. Other teams knew it was coming but still couldn't stop it. I wish Denny could come back and coach the last minute of the first and second half for Rick. Back in the day, if we needed a bucket Denny would call a play and that was that. Today, Rick calls a play and it's f*#$ed up before it begins.
Rick ='s System
Denny = x's and o's.
I love Rick and I wouldn't trade him for any other active coach out there, but it frustrates me to no end when we can't execute in must score scenarios.
I guess we just can't have both.

Yeah, Denny was the best in that
DanCard, you have to remember that now we're playing with Soph and Jr's
Denny usually had some decent Sr's and Jr's
Far enough back-- Frosh weren't even allowed to play. Because...they weren't mature enough--didn't have the skills.
Still don't...

Denny Vs Rick
Example is the poor shooting percentage and shot selection. Poor free throw shooting has become far more common than the past.
Rick has a much larger network to recruit from than Denny did most of his career. But Denny was an extremely more better coach when it came to fundamentals.

To be fair....
We have as much upper class depth as most teams. Padgett and Palacios are Srs. McGee and Twill are Jrs and Clark, Smith, and Sosa played more than most in their Freshman season.
Blaming things on youth is ok but not if you are young every year....like we apparently are doomed to be in some people's eyes.
