(Extremely Brief) Big East Week Three Pre-Saturday Preview

WEST VIRGINIA (2-0) AT MARYLAND (2-0)

Time/TV: 7:30 p.m./ESPN

Favorite: West Virginia by 16.5

The Pat White and Steve Slaton experience takes center stage tonight, as the fifth ranked Mountaineers of West Virginia hit the road to take on 2-0 Maryland.

Both teams are coming into the game off of short weeks after defeating Marshall and Florida International, respectively, on Saturday.

A year ago in another Thursday night matchup, the 'eers jumped out to a 28-0 lead en route to an easy 45-27 victory.

Led by All-American linebacker Erin Henderson, the Terps are allowing an ACC-best 175-yards a game. Of course this average is the result of playing Villanova and Florida International.

Things have been less productive for the Turtles on offense where quarterback Justin Steffy is yet to throw a touchdown, although he is completing more than 75 percent of his passes. Maryland's top offensive performer thus far has been running back who is averaging 108.5 yards rushing and has scored five touchdowns.

Steffy is inexperienced and his ability to keep his head in what should be an electric home atmosphere will be huge. Well, not really huge because West Virginia's going to put up 40 plus and Maryland won't.

CC Prediction: West Virginia 49, Maryland 21

WVU struggling a little bit right now surprisingly
especially in the 1st half of games.

This is not WVU-like.  It seems they are underestimating their opponents big time, and that is very out of character for a Rich-Rodriguez coached team.

I don't think it will last though.  Coach Rod will make sure of that.

Still though as long as they have White and Slaton they are more than capable of beating anyone on any given day....

Southern California included....
