Wagering

I always cheer for Big East teams but this weekend I bet against Rutgers and South Florida and, I was miserable watching those games. This is why I dont bet against the Cards or the Colts, the conflicting emotions are brutal. I couldnt enjoy the Rutgers stomping (they looked damn good) and I was only marginally happy for the Bulls, which sucks because I have been waiting for that upset since the schedules came out. I refused to take the Cards -41. I am glad the handicappers had more faith in our defense than I did. But I did take Syracuse +24. Fucking Orangemen. How could such a storied program suck so much ass? Michigan came up lame and cost me, as did Georgia. Thank God the Irish are awful. Typing that just makes me happy, "the Irish are awful".  Ah, that almost makes all the other lost wages worthwhile. When in doubt, bet against Notre Dame.

All in all I went a humiliating 1-5 against the spread in college football this weekend. Enough to make the most stoic gambler lay down in traffic. Oh, but wait. Redemption, thy name is NFL. I went an unbelievable 9-1 ATS on Sunday (and Thursday's fantastic Colts showing), including a couple of huge parlays that are going to buy me a steak dinner every night this week. The only bet I lost was the Jets +6 1/2 against the Patriots. Fucking Patriots, I hate the Patriots and they looked scary. After Moss' huge game, they wont need to pass to him the rest of the year. Every team is going to focus on him and Brady can just fire it off to anyone else or hand the ball of to Kool-Aid loving, ass washing, begul shitting, Laurence Maroney. But, I digress. This is a college football blog and Im getting off topic. Must be the Construda. (Google it)

There was a point to this post.....oh yeah, never bet against teams that you want to cheer for. Regardless of what your head tells you might be a good play, stay away from it. It will ultimately spoil and cheapen the outcome, no matter what happens. I understand some of you dont gamble or think that it is morally corrupt. And I agree, gambling can be a serious problem for some. But the only serious problem I have is my future heart failure from all these porterhouses and filets. How can you call it gambling when Im making all this money?

All I can say about the NFL this week is thank God for Kyle Boller. The Bungles (-3 1/2) had me sweating.
