Louisville Looking at Late Recruiting Addition

George Goode and Clarence Holloway may finally have some company in the '07 recruiting class as Clark County High School senior guard Preston Knowles is expected to visit U of L this weekend.

The 6-1 Knowles, who averaged 21.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and hit 91 of 236 three-pointer for the Cardinals this season, is also expected to visit LSU, VCU, Miami of Ohio and South Alabama. Mississippi State, Georgia and Kentucky have also expressed interest although Western Kentucky and Morehead State are the only schools that have officially offered a scholarship at this point.

Louisville assistant coaches Kevin Willard, Marvin Menzies and Steve Masiello were reportedly impressed with Knowles' shot and quickness when they watched him play Ballard in the second round of the State Tournament two weeks ago. Denny Crum also saw Knowles play in the tournament and spoke highly of him to the C-J's Jody Demling.

"He's an excellent athlete and can shoot it," Crum told Demling. "He'll be really good when he learns the difference between a good and a bad shot."

In 2007, Knowles led Clark County to its first 10th region championship in 17 years.

I have seen this kid play since he was an eighth grader.  He is going to be nothing but trouble for any college baskeball team.  He does not like to be told what to do and thinks he is too good to be coached.  In one game he actually drew his fist back at the coach when the coach yelled at him.  If you are going to take a chance on a kid like this, it better be someone with more talent because he is definitely not a D1 athlete.

I don't know much about the kid other than what I've heard and seen in clips, but his maturity is an issue that has come up repeatedly. Then again I also heard that he really made strides in his senior season, so it's important not to discount potential for growth here.
