Ricky P in HD

The contemptible Sports Guy, Bill Simmons, talked about Coach Pitino in his latest Page 2 entry,

"By the way, maybe my HD picture is especially good, but is anyone aging stranger than Rick Pitino? It's like seeing one of those bad movies that spans a period of time -- like the crappy Prefontaine movie with Jared Leto -- where they use makeup to "age" the actors for a scene 20 years later, only the makeup people did a crappy job and every scene is completely disorienting. I don't think Pitino's been outside since 1989."

While I usually disagree with damn near everything this Boston-sport-cocksucking talking head has to say, I agr.. I agr.., I cant say it. Bill Simmons is a douche.

That being said, I have noticed the decline in appearance of Coach Pitino, especially during the broadcasts of the Big East tournament. For five years, I have heard from countless people saying, "Wow, Coach Pitino is looking old." I always responded in kind, "Well, he's getting old. Thats what happens. He's no spring chicken." (What the f is a spring chicken anyway?) Recently, he hasnt looked healthy to me. Everyone knows that there has been plenty of tragedy and stress for Pitino, enough to take its toll on the strongest of men. Or maybe its the cigars, sucking the color and life out of his face. Or maybe its my sweet ass 42inch plasma HD, opening up a window of clarity that had been closed, boarded, and bricked over before. (Seriously how do you rubes live with those tubey, blocky, grandma boxes. HD is the balls.)

Oh well. I guess this is open for discussion. And some people might not say they agree. But one fact remains that we can all agree on, Bill Simmons sucks.

i agree, i will say it for you
During a game this year, ESPN showed a clip of Fransisco hugging Rick after the win at memphis in the C-USA  championship. The broadcast then came back to rick yelling at T-will on sideline, Rick looked like he was 100 years older. Maybe we should send him on Gensing or something.

No question about it, he's aged
I don't have HD yet, and Pitino definitly looks like he's aged on my tv, too.  I think he looked well-preserved for a long time, and now it's all catching up to him.  Some people just age like that.  I think he takes good care of himself, but the perhaps the rumored physical ailments and personal stress have taken their toll as well.

It is likely compunded by having two very stressful coaching seasons in a row.  (I sure as hell have aged watching the Cards over the last two seasons!)  Hopefully, when the season ends he can recharge his batteries.

HD
Good call on Simmons- I especially love how he pretending to be a college basketball fan since all his Boston teams blow.

And since we are talking HD- is the game tomorrow in HD at all? The WLKY downloadable schedule from their website says that the game will be broadcast on the the HD channel but has an asterisk saying "Upconverted analog game- Not in HD" Does anybody know what this means exactly besides that the game is apparently not in HD?

1080i
Im guessing it will be like other programs not shot in HD, a noticeable polish, but not the 1080i I have come to cherish. Its ridiculous. I watch the lamest programs ever now just because they are shot in HD. Discovery HD has a show called "Sunrise:Earth" that is nothing more than a camera set up in the wilderness taping natures sights and sounds. No narration, no music. Just Mother Nature. Granted I can only take about five minutes before Im bored out of my mind, but my eyes have never seen anything more spectacular.

Hermit living just became easier!
Wow I just read my above post and I should probably get out more. Thats what the internets, X-Box360, and High Definition programming will do to you. At least my girlfriend hasnt dumped me yet. Although we have had more fights about Halo 2, UofL sports, and the NFL then we have about anything else. Ten fold.
