Louisville lost its second class of '08 commit in one week when Central Catholic (Pa) quarterback Tino Sunseri made a verbal commitment to Pittsburgh on Monday.
Sunseri - who verballed to U of L on May 18 - was Steve Kragthorpe's first commitment as Louisville's head coach.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound versatile QB completed 100-of-186 passes for 1,834 yards and 22 touchdowns this season while leading Central Catholic to a WPIAL Class AAAA championship.
"I looked at the situation and what coach Wannstedt told me is that the quarterback race at Pitt is wide open," Sunseri told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "Anywhere you go, you are going to have to compete for the job and that is the same way it is going to be at Pitt. They told me that I have a chance to come in and start right away because the quarterback situation is wide open and I am going to do all I can, you know, work as hard as I can to get on the field early."
Ben Cotton, a four-star tight end from Iowa who committed to U of L in June, switched his commitment to Nebraska on Dec. 4.
Looks like for now it's officially Wolfe vs. Simms in '09.
