now THIS is a coach with a good siege mentality:
One thing that has always pissed me off about Kragthorpe is the way that he won't answer questions, but he continuously does it in a pathetic, passive-aggressive way.
Here, for your reference Steve, is how a good coach (Sir Alex Ferguson of Manchester United Soccer Club), executes the "Siege Mentality" to (hilarious, in my opinion) perfection when defending a player against an unfair question a reporter asked him:
Reporter: 'I asked [the player]...'
Ferguson: 'F***ing (inaudible) bastard.'
R: 'Don't talk to me like that.'
F: 'F**k off to you.'
R: 'Don't talk to me like that. Don't even think about it.'
F: 'Don't you think about it, you ****. F**k off. Right?'
R: 'Listen, are you going to do the interview in a professional manner or not? Do you want to do it or not?'
F: 'You f*****g be professional. You be professional. You're the one.'
R: 'I'm entitled to ask questions to the players... Cristiano gave the right answer.'
F: 'F***ing hell with your answers.'
R: 'Don't talk to me like that. Go away. If you want to behave civilly, fine. Don't talk to me like that.'
R: 'F**k off.' (door slams)
- END -
Ferguson might be a jerk, and a lot of press and fans from other teams don't like him in England, but his players and Manchester fans love him for the unapologetic way he conducts himself in defending his team.
Keep throwing people under the bus, Koach, you'll be there with them soon enough.

Yes, a good "football" coach
in several languages

BTW, there was no sign of the football
thought they might salute the seniors
but the hatches are apparently being batten down
(A last rumor from on high from my source who had just returned from Dallas: Concerning K, ALL options were STILL on the table before the Rutgers game...and were apparently somewhat contingent on the outcome--by all parties involved.)
Also, this just in: Central Florida beat Tulsa 44-25 for the Conference USA championship Saturday.
The Golden Hurricane (had) the country's top offense with 548 yards a game...But the Knights clamped down in the second half, pressuring Smith into Tulsa's third-worst offensive outing of the season. UCF used the same blueprint when the teams met in the regular season, picking off four Smith passes in a 44-23 win.

Thanks for the rumor
BTW, I saw TJ at the women's volleyball game last night (we lost, dammit!), and I wanted to ask him if any of my conspiracy theories were true. I wasn't close enough to him, though. Good thing since he probably would have had me escorted from the building.

My source
The offer to their primary candidate , K , is still on the table.
My source confirmed this all with a member of the SMU search committee that he knows.
My source believes that it's up to K to pull the trigger--or not.
and that K would make the decision following the last game
he doesn't think Tom J would have fired K regardless- but isn't sure of that if it had been a true horror show like Syracuse

I saw that
Now if he has the press conference at Supercuts and gets that rat tail thing cut off on tv, I might get excited!

On second thought......
Jeff Brohm promoted to OC.
Greg Brohm promoted to an assistant.
Stubbs demoted to an administrative position like Director of Football Operations.
Cassity fired.
Now, I don't like SK, but I'm a reasonable woman. This would appease me, and I would have hope.

Yeah, I don't think K is going
but I know that K had not asked SMU to withdraw their offer as of Rutgers gametime
by frankpos on Dec 2, 2007 6:28 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Here's how I see it
K's agent or whatever is contacted by the SMU search firm to determine if there is even any interest.
They find there is some. After some negotiations, a telephone interview with the SMU search committee is arranged with K. The offer is extended...K does not accept--but he does not totally reject the offer that SMU still leaves on the table. K knows he has the SMU job in his pocket if the last game is a total lay down game, and things get really ugly for him--he can get the hell out of Dodge.
K is found out by the media. The spin put out is that he may leave because of the abuse of his family by the community. He lies to try to keep the lid on. (He knows he can always say if he decides to leave, that he lied to protect his family from even further abuse until they were able to get out of town.)
The last game goes OK. Fans feel at least a bit warm and fuzzy. K decides to stay. Has of course been in talks with TJ all along on other coaching changes. Calls press conference to announce changes- tells SMU to take offer off table.
That's what I would do in his place...
(Or, TJ has brokered the whole deal, knowing it is a possible good out for both him and K...and both TJ and K wait until the last game until they finally decide.)

What is the likelihood...
The SMU message boards are still speculating that K is the next coach and that he and SMU were waiting until the last game was played to make the announcement.
Frank, do you have any insight from your source at SMU?
One can always hope.....
Also, is the press conference going to be televised and on what station?

The possiblitity is there, at least,
But he doesn't know what will happen-- that's all his SMU source would tell him. Both camps have gone silent.
Given the info I have gotten, and how the game turned out, K is likely to stay--IMO (see threads above)
But a man can hope still...

A liitel late with that post, wasn't I ?
Head coach Steve Kragthorpe announced changes to both his coordinator positions at a news conference this afternoon.
Jeff Brohm was named offensive coordinator, replacing Charlie Stubbs. Brohm served as assistant head coach, quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator this past season. Stubbs resigned to pursue other opportunities, Kragthorpe said.
Kragthorpe also announced that defensive coordinator Mike Cassity will not be retained next season. Kragthorpe said he would look at other possible defensive coordinators in the next couple of weeks.
The Cards finished 6-6 and were not selected for a bowl.
