Jesus Christ
Pissed.
That was a booming punt.
Good job by the D there. I can't believe Palmer actually turned around to play the ball in the air. How many penalities have we seen on LBs on that play for pass interference for just putting their arms up with their backs to the ball.
More than 3rd and 6
Maybe because no matter what, on 3rd down we run a 6 yard play.
STOP HAVING ANYONE RUN UNDERNEATH SHORT OF THE FIRST DOWN.
If we could turn a 3rd down.

Cadence
White hurt?
Our offense sucks hard.
No more Allen
What the hell?
How does someone like Craig James get, and then keep, a job.
Sounds like spin
I think Heyman played WR his frosh year and then switched to DT...
Seriously though, most teams switch HS offensive players to the defense. Kerry Rhoades was a hs QB and he turned out okay on defense.
Preston Smith was a QB in HS.
Raglin has been a safety for a few years. Heath (who hasn't seen the field since the 1st play of the 'Cuse game) was a HS defensive player. Woodny has never played offense.
Council was recruited by VT as a CB.
So I can't really figure it out.
What the hell is Brian throwing into
Oh lord the fumble!

Sick of the Owen Schmitt fellacio
Stripling!
B) he broke a tackle!!
Those are two positive developments.
Poor Bobby Buchanan
Ya, bobby...
Still can't cover guys man to man.
Petrino shouldn't have converted him from his natural offensive position: right tackle.
Injuries
Who is the 5th string DE?
Do we burn Patrick Grant's redshirt?
Line Malik up at DE?
WTF?
Great spot!
Stripling up the middle, with 4 WRs and no TEs? Seriously?
3rd and 1
Honestly, what in the world are you thinking???
Well,,,,,
Why do we have to play one step down to the level of our opponents.
And why would we run the same play on 3rd and 1 when we got such a lucky spot.

OH. MY. GOD.
At least we'll be down enough so that Brian and the team will be able to do their own thing in the fourth quarter.
God I hate this.
Always starting 14 pts down
inane play calling
greatest offensive players in Card history forced to play dink football
If Bilal Powell doesn't touch the ball tonight
(George Costanza voice) I'M LOSIN' IT.
At least we got a sack!

Once again
Craig James is awful.
Big East refs are worse.
WHAT THE FUCK???
WVU running up the middle
Hopefully we can keep it up.
D is doing it's part - but O is
should be shoot-out in the 40's by two amazing teams
should
Good to hold them to 3
Lets use those short passes over the middle and screen passes to Stripling and march back down the field!
Block in the back was huge
Four 4th and 1's in 35 minutes of play.

Craig James is a D--K
And not only that, but continuing the story AFTER the call on the field broke it up.
He's awful. Bring back Herbie.
They started to review
I yell everytime
OK

Every time
We're averaging .8 yards per carry. And Powell isn't getting touches?
by Mike Rutherford on Nov 8, 2007 10:51 PM EST reply actions
Ya, looks like WVU...
...has adjusted to the screen.
Finally we start throwing downfield, but it didn't quite work out (they didn't show a reply so no idea whether Harry should have had that catch.
The D is keeping us in it, the offense (and the playcalling) is not complying. Does that sound familiar?
Oh my God

Brohm
And we are FINALLY throwing downfield.
HA!
Ball is catchable.
But whatever.
Douglass
Full blame
I hate myself.

Worst coach in america
Defense played well atleast
Late hit
The just showed it again on sportscenter.
Those 15 yards were worth like 6 plays and 4 minutes in the stubbs playbook.

I guess we should be resigned..
I guess we also need a new DC, although I wish we let Cassity run the blitzing man-to-man that we used last year.
Either way, assistant coaches can make bad coaches look better than they are and good coaches look worse than they are. So hopefully next year we get a couple of the former. Maybe this year we had the latter.
Yep, we're going to get K at least one more yr
Cassity-- something was really weird with the D. Someone sure as hell didn't know what they were doing --in evaluating or preparing the D for this season. Ten games in we're finally playing semi-OK.
Something doesn't feel right there...and never really has to me with him.
Wish we'd just really clean house and bring in a Pitino -level FBall coach-- rather than trying to buy one on the cheap. Aren't (Weren't) we at a different level of aspiration?
Oh, well...IJIT (in Jurich I trust)
Nice to see Mario

Very very frustrating end to the game
To end on a positive note, I will add that I liked how our team didn't give up. With all the crap that's happened this year, I wasn't sure even that was possible.

Ah
Too many screens, I mean I know WVU was taking away anything deep and the O-line had trouble stopping a 3 man rush, but come on...
Stripling played well, but we've got to find someone else with some speed that can break tackles because AA and BB NEVER break tackles.
Overall I'm happy with the effort and have high hopes for these last 2 games. I want to go bowling!!!!
by JMC @ Card Chronicle on Nov 9, 2007 12:21 AM EST reply actions
Brock does break tackles
My how a year can change things
Positives: Brian gave us a chance. Gary Barnidge (TE of the decade). Better effort on the whole. Defense gave us a million chances (held White and Slaton to ONE long run).
Negatives: Dont have the patience to fully discuss some of the calls made. I am as big a Stripling fan as anyone, but mix it up. If Bolen wasnt healthy he wouldnt be on special teams. Trent (Make a Play)! Pat Carter (Make a Play)!
ESPN
And Craig is the the proverbial back breaking straw. There are roughly 50 football players on both sides of which announcers and viewers should be aware of. Who ever said it was okay to talk about the same person for extended periods, show a special segment about them, and replays on the sidelines when they have touched the ball maybe 4 times and made zero impressive blocks. Schmitt is talented. A freak of nature strength wise. Get over it. There are so many more talented people who could give far greater insight. Watching a disappointing game on ESPN is now becoming the salt in the wound.
well where to begin....
How many yards did we give up in almost every other game (particuarly the first 4 games)? Our defense really stepped it up last night and came up with some key stops.
Was it perfect? No. But would most people have thought the defense that showed up at the Syracuse game could have ever done what the defense that showed up last night did (even with a pretty banged/injured squad)?
Have we arrived yet...No...but we are improving rapidly IMO.
Offense:
Minus a couple of turnovers and we were in the game. The turnovers where "good" ones (like a helment on the ball when douglas foumbled). Yeah I know no turnovers are good, but ours were not really from not protecting the ball, more about just great football plays by the defense and a little luck for WVU.
Is anyone else tired of this boring offensive strategy? Yes Brohm is a great QB but we have to run the ball more IMO. And this does not mean a couple dive plays. Teams have to respect that we can run, and it will also help keep us out of the 3rd and longs. Bowlen and Stipling need a chance to open up more. Bowlen I think averaged almost 4 yards a carry. I don't know about you all but I'll take 4 yard plays all day. Make that defense come up and stop them and then do some play action. Make them honor Brohms arm, and our backfield. Run some more counters, WR sweeps, stretch the field. We have to get the defense's to come up and stop the run.
I also think we need to do some fakes every once in a while on special teams. We came up close multiple times on 3rd down. We have not shown a fake all year. Coach K you have nothing to lose, go for it. Teams like WVU will score it's just a matter of time, so you can't keep giving them the ball back. You have to take a little risk sometimes, especially since you have nothing to lose (5-4 going into game).
Overall:
I think we played well for a team that lost. Even though we lost I feel we had victories within our team. By that I mean that our defense finally felt what it was like to play as a team and make some stops. Like I said it was not perfect (couple missed tackles, misalignments, etc) but definatly a step up from when we began.
I honestly think we can win against USF and RU. Last night showed me that our team will not give up and will continue to grow as a team, and that is reassuring.
I'm still giving coach K a chance. I hope he doesn't make me look like a fool.
Go cards.

I don't think I have ever typed that much on a board/website before. haha
