Common Opponents
I posted this on one of the message boards, but they get buried so quickly, I thought I'd post it here too. Sorry if it seems petty, but I'm sorta ticked off right now:
This season, so far, we have had 8 common opponents from last season (and Rutgers will make 9). For every single game, we have had a worse result on the spread than last season. The worse, quite obviously, is tonight with a 61 swing from last season (as of right now), but UK (-37) and UConn (-35) were pretty bad, too. The average is 24.5 points worse. But again, every single game got worse.
MTSU - 2006 +27 2007 +16

UK 2006 +31 2007 -6

SU 2006 +13 2007 -3

UC 2006 +6 2007 +4

UConn 2006 +31 2007 -4

Pitt 2006 +24 2006 +7

WVU 2006 +10 2007 -7

USF 2006 +23 2007 -45

Average Net Loss of 24.5
Now, this isn't much of a surprise to anyone, I don't think. We all know we have stunk this year.
But I think it points out that the "we lost so many defensive starters" excuse is pretty lame. Can anyone tell me that we lost more talent than every single other team we played both seasons? And can you say that we didn't have better replacements than a single other team on our list?
